Charts

To access charts for a stock, enter the stock symbol in the Get a Quote field and choose Charts from the drop-down box on the Summary screen. Your Charts screen will look something like the image below:

At the top of the screen, you'll see a quote for the stock you searched. A chart for the stock will be in the middle of the screen and, below the chart, an explanation of the performance data will be provided with Scottrade SmartText™.

Touch the Chart Settings button to plot indicators on your chart or to customize the chart time frame or style.

Timeframe

Narrowing or expanding the timeframe covered in your chart can potentially help you spot trends and isolate the effects of certain events.

To Change Your Chart Timeframe:

1. Select the Chart Settings button.

2. Use the Select Time Frame drop-down boxes to set a time period for your chart. Your chart timeframe can range from one minute to five years.

3. Choose the Update Chart.

Chart Style

You can change the style of a chart at any time. Different types of charts can be useful for highlighting different pieces of information. For example, candlestick charts always show the open, close, high and low prices and are color coded for easy readability. Line charts, on the other hand, show less information and tend to smooth out daily price fluctuations, potentially making it easier to spot trends.

To Change Your Chart Style:

1. Select the Chart Settings button.

2. Use the Change Chart Style drop-down box to select a chart display type.

3. Choose Update Chart.

Choose Reset Chart to undo your recent changes.

Upper Indicators

You can place up to five upper indicators on your chart at one time.

1. Select Chart Settings.

2. Choose Add Upper Indicator.

3. Choose up to five indicators to plot on your chart.

4. Select Submit.

5. Touch the Update Chart button.

Choose Reset Chart to undo your recent changes.

Lower Indicators

You can place up to five lower indicators on your chart at one time.

1. Touch Chart Settings.

2. Touch Add Lower Indicator

3. Choose up to five indicators to plot on your chart.

4. Touch Submit.

5. Touch the Update Chart button.

Choose Reset Chart to undo your recent changes.

To navigate to a different Stock Research screen, use the drop-down box to select the information you want to see.
