Using Outlook 2013 or OWA to Forward Email Messages as Attachments

Date Submitted: 5-23-2013

Using Microsoft Outlook® 2013 or Outlook Web App (OWA), you can forward email messages as attachments. Doing so packages all previous-message contents (including headers and attachments) into one organized file. It also reduces confusion because recipients can easily identify your messages — they won't get lost among the other contents.

For information about using other versions of Outlook to forward email messages, see Office support.

To Use Outlook 2013 to Forward Email Messages as Attachments

  1. Open Outlook 2013.
  2. Click New Email to start a new message.
  3. From Attach Item, select Outlook Item.
  4. Select the email message you want to attach, and then click OK.
  5. Send the message to the recipient.

To Use OWA to Forward Email Messages as Attachments

  1. Log in to OWA.
  2. Click new mail to start a new message.
  3. Drag and drop the message you want to forward into the body of the new message. It displays as an attachment.
  4. Send the message to the recipient.
