GameTrailers Officially Closing Down Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 . . . 18 NEXT
I don't think he was banned. Just demoted from admin to regular user. To think I never bother joining the mods briefly, just to take a look at their private forums. And see GT from another angle. But then again, I wanted free rein within the rules to openly speak. And that's why I never bothered.
Vaguely, I didn't have internet at that time (after AT&T; set me up with a huge bill)
Yea back then when I was around a lot some weird/funny stuff happened that I definitely can't say i ever experienced in any other forum. EDIT: POST #50!!
I remember that many users had a signature mocking it
This closure is bothering me. Nobody in gaming media has a pen like the GT Staff had. This honestly makes me want to potentially start a website of my own in the same ethos of GameTrailers. I am in school for media production after all. I just am so young that I don't have all of that old school background. I really want to try something though. Good video content, level headed reviews that detail all aspects of a game, Retrospectives. I hate that Let's Play crap.
Too bad I'll never get the chance to talk about marriage life and kids on this site. But oh well. My law enforcement gig is going well. Actually had a young teenager who spotted my supervisor while trying to steal a drink. Then go on the line to pay. He speed walk past us when he got outside making it oblivious he was trying to steal something. Not a great idea getting a record for stealing a drink at a pharmacy. More so when you have money to pay for it. Hopefully he does something positive with his life.
btw, thank to you guys at the general discussion section who helped me back then.
I totally get where you're coming from dude. Don't know how much I could help since all I do is draw purty pictures but I do have a more than functional sense of storytelling. I just added you to steam so hit me up there if you need a crew member for dat heist lol.
there really isn't much to see in the private forums. most exciting things you would see is debates whether certain posters should be perm banned for being trolls, or NiGHTS(Kina, KinaPuff) testing new ways to screw with people >.>
The Final Fantasy Retrospective was wow, one of more amazing tributes I've ever seen done. Man...Pop-Fiction, GT Countdown, ScrewAttack, all that good stuff...
We all are. It was sudden, even if we knew GT wasn't drawing much traffic. Despite our staff being better than other sites. Just have to let it all go. Probably will take some time, but we can recover and be able to move on. Perhaps it's painful reminder that nothing on this Earth lasts forever. So we must cherish the good times we had.
I wish you well GT brother.
Well, this truly is some sad news. This place really has been a little home away from home for me for a long time now. I just want to say thank you to all the people I met here on GT over the last decade. A big thank you to the old Omnigamers and all of its members. Lordwindowlicker, Zulux, Greg, Jak, Mazer, Whitelight etc, those times really meant a lot to me. A shout out to some other members as well: Adventurer (I know we have had ups and downs but I still have a plethora of fond memories), Cweeny, Talax, Narros, Kudan, Longview ... I just know there are many, many more. Of course, I must also say ta ta to Deisel (Black-Cell), such a crazy but ultimately funny guy; the back and forth was fun, if not sometimes a tad aggravating. I personally can't see myself moving on, i've been on and off about dropping forums for a few years now and this seems like a good time. But thank you to GT and its Staff for keeping this place going for as long as you have, it shows some real dedication.
I remember looking forward to anything you posted back in the day Sheria. And the same can be said for today. People like you really help diversify my gaming preferences. And introduced me to awesome games of old and new that I wouldn't have been aware of; or be much interested in playing. Thanks for joining us in what has been a ride of a lifetime.
Well thanks for the heads up. You were a great brother to have in the Omnigamer forum back in the day.
Wow. Terrible news. | |
Man, I remember being introduced to this site in 2006 and loving the community. Judging by how things have been here lately, this is no surprise. Goodbye GT, it was a (mostly) good 10 years.
Good idea man! It was nice having a site that was just about the games and that produced really good media instead of clickbait articles and nonsense. Not to mention well put together reviews and videos that never went for the flashy "youtube" style if you know what I mean I'd be interested in lending a hand if you needed help.. I don't have much video or production experience (I'm an engineer) but I'm a pretty good writer and might be able to help out with some stuff
I'm doing a year long documentary project next year which is my last year of university, then I want to consider going this route for my career. I have a lot of personal growing to do as well as skill building and starting a career but I've always wanted to get into games. An artist would be great. But this is a venture for another day. Same goes with you Faaip. We'll see about this in the future. You never know.
Farewell, GT. I never thought this is gonna happen so soon.
This site also really help me get through college and graduate. I was a full time student with no social life at what's considered a commuter college (no dorms or significant campus community). And GT provided me an avenue where I can socialize with others. More importantly since my friends and family were just as busy. And I wouldn't reach the state of peace I have with God till my last year of college. I joined GT in my first year of college (second semester in 2009). And I'm probably better off not thinking how much worse I could have been without GT, as I was meant to be here anyways. And GT really turned out to be a real blessing in disguise, at a time when I had to make adjustments fast with a huge workload while still being a teenager. Also glad I was able to use my college experience to help others get through college/university via the General Discussion section in particular.

Love you too, man. | |
*hugs* | |
GoTaco, what is your PSN?
Well this is unfortunate. Obviously I haven't been active in a few years, but it's still a shame to see this place go.
I had a similar dream once, hell it was the sole reason I basically used the old GT blogs as a way to work on my writing skills, to hopefully get noticed and become a reviewer some where. I did also try my hand at a video review but was never able to do more as personal circumstances kinda prevent me from recording any audio.
a damn shame it will be missed
Good times. | |
Good times indeed | |
Holy crap I've forgotten so much. I was younger back then. D Block is legendary with the hatred.
Well I always knew it was going to come down to this, it sucks but it was inevitable. With that said I will always be a fan of GT, joined when the site was still young and I kinda grew up with this site, the video reviews were very creative for it's time back in 06, the site imploded with content that even if there were nothing new there was always new posts and the users in here are some of the best there is. Where to now fellow GT'rs? Edit: whats funny is that I ended up logging of last year for the last time, I was in a twitch stream and the chat mentioned that GT is pulling the plug, I had to come back for for goodness sake.
I never really forgive nor respect GT.com for how they treat the PS3 with inferior comparison videos back then. Or how they screwed over PS3 earlier with the first Assassin's Creed saying its colours are washed out where in fact they deliberately turned off RGB settings to make Xbox 360 look better than them! As well as having a brainless Xbox-loving admin; his name is ZippingMeteor. Proved him wrong and you get a lifetime ban. So good riddance GT.com! Your reviews on PS3 games are unfair and your comparisons sucked.
This is sad. Gametrailers is only site i can stand posting. very sad news
I rarely saw eye to eye with any of you but it's been fun. GT was the only forum I ever posted on and it will probably stay that way. I'd just get banned on other sites lol. Good luck to the staff, I never doubted your enthusiasm and I hope you can get in somewhere else in the business. Stay up people! Vote trump!

Thumbing down blogs in mass was always fun. Thank God someone decided to base thumb ranking on levels with a max of 20 thumbs. Instead of a traditional 1 vote system.
