As you might've noticed, we've dropped a few goodies your way this week.

The long-anticipated Chat Lobby is now live. Take a look in your Backyard and you'll see a link to the lobby.

I've been getting quite a few reports by users complaining of seeded links that are 'not news' or are just done improperly. I've also been contacting users individually with some tips on getting the hang of seeding Newsvine. I'm no angel.

Newsvine is wonderful. Here are six suggestions on how to improve it:

So, Casual Newsviner, you're ready to step up your skills and become a veritable Tarzan of Newsvine? Here's some tips and tricks that will help you in your quest.

Just a quick one that I have been thinking about for a while.

Lots of updates to the site of late, and I haven't made a long-winded request for new features in a few days so here goes:

Today the Newsvine Conversation Tracker was rolled out. No more digging around in Your History to see if someone has responded to the manifesto you left on their post. You'll notice that there are two indicators just above the main level categories.

Today I read an exchange between several Newsvine users that demonstrates more of what needs to happen around here. I'm probably breaking some unwritten rule by seeding a comment thread, but I think sharing the Kodak moment is worth the offense.

Would anyone use volunteer editors?

There has been a lot of discussion lately on voting, and how the system does, should, or can work. Many different ideas have been thrown around, in many different areas, and there are still quite a few people, who don’t understand why the current voting system is in place.

The Idea
In light of recent discussion, I'd like to bring back an idea I posted about a few weeks ago.

It is quite beautiful to see how well the Newsvine voting system is working out. At first there were many people talking about being able to vote articles down, and yes I admit I was one of them.

After many requests, Newsvine region customization is now live. You can now add/remove regions from your dropdown menu by searching or browsing for specific locations. You can choose from over 400 metro regions and countries worldwide.

We've just rolled out the Newsvine Code Of Honor (accessible in the footer). This short list is intended to provide a set of guidelines for interactions within the community. We took many of your suggestions into consideration while crafting the Code.

Stephen Bryant writes the most succinct review of Newsvine I've read to date. His evaluation of both traditional news media sites and those dubbed "journalism 2.0", including his thoughts on where Newsvine fits in, is clear and thorough.

As you may have noticed, a new perameter option has appeared for seeding links. We now have the option of choosing whether the link is "News Event", "News Opinion" or "Other" (you know, for those "you gotta check this out, but it ain't news" type links).

I ask, because in the future, this may make a difference in a non-trivial way.

Shouldn't I see an edit link when I view my own posts and seeds? As far as I can tell, I need to go into my "Edit Posts" or "Edit Links" listing to edit them. Newsvine knows who I am, so why not let me edit directly from the post or seed?

Although the thought parked itself in the back of my brain since joining Newsvine, I've often wondered about the site's plan to deal with copyright/fair use issues.

This is more of an indirect issue to Newsvine, but what about seeded articles that require you to subscribe to the source to see the entire article? I see this as going beyond a mere annoyance factor in that by intentionally seeding an article of widespread interest an unscrupulo

Ok, so I'm not gonna talk about the post-feudal economic structure in Europe.

After reading all of the comments, i see lots of comments where someone corrects their spelling mistakes in a previous comment: eg:

What about some sort of comment credibility rating?

One of the things that I really enjoy about Newsvine is the ability to seed articles. The AP and ESPN are great sources but there's a world of journalism, blogging and opinions out there that Newsvine lets us bring into this user experience for all to read and discuss.
