Stop Dragging Your Feet – Ways to Make Filing Your Taxes Easier

By Sarah B., Social Media Intern and Guest Blogger

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely getting the itch to spend more time outdoors and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. With all the happy distractions of warmer temperatures and longer days, the last thing anyone wants to do is spend time inside filing their taxes.

While it’s easy to procrastinate, it’s important to remember that when it comes to taxes a number of unexpected questions can arise. To help, we offer several resources that may make filing your taxes a little easier:

Tax Guide

Learn how to read your 1099, what form you should use to file, and when we mailed each tax form in our Tax Guide, which can be found on the Scottrade® Knowledge Center.

Webcasts

If you are looking for information on tax strategies, cost basis or wash sales, watch one of our on-demand Scottrade Webcasts. These include an entire educational video series dedicated to taxes, which lets you learn at your own pace.

Branch Seminars

‘Taxes and Your Scottrade Account’ and ‘Track Your Cost Basis’ are just two Branch Seminars that we offer to help guide you on how to prepare for your taxes.

Online Tax Statements

Receiving your tax statements online can in some ways make the tax preparation process easier. You don’t have to dig through piles of paper trying to find where you last placed your tax form.

Scottrade Online Community

If you are a Scottrade client, visit the Scottrade Online Community. With over 57,000 members, there’s always an associate or experienced investor available to share their experience and possibly answer your questions.

TurboTax

If you haven’t used TurboTax, it may be something that you want to try to help you get your taxes done right. Scottrade clients also can save 30 percent on TurboTax Online Federal products.

Don’t let your taxes get ahead of you. Feel free to utilize the resources listed above or stop by a local Scottrade branch office. We’re here to help you meet the April 17 tax deadline.
