Company Background
National Fuel Gas Company is a holding company. The Company is a diversified energy company operates in four business segments: Utility segment, Pipeline and Storage segment, and Exploration and Production segment and Energy Marketing segment. The Company's direct wholly owned subsidiary, Seneca Resources Corporation's (Seneca), Northeast Division markets timber from Appalachian land holdings. At September 30, 2011, the Company owned approximately 95,000 acres of timber property and managed an additional 3,424 acres of timber cutting rights. Its direct wholly owned subsidiary National Fuel Gas Midstream Corporation (Midstream Corporation), formed to build, own and operate natural gas processing and pipeline gathering facilities in the Appalachian region. As of September 30, 2011, the Company owns a 50% interest in Energy Systems North East, LLC (ESNE). In February 2011, the Company sold its 50% equity method investments in Seneca Energy II, LLC and Model City Energy, LLC.
