PepsiCo to sink $64m into Russian agriculture
The world's second-largest food and beverage company PepsiCo plans to invest RUB 2.1bn (approx. USD 64.04m) in Russia's agriculture in 2013, the company's press service said, citing PepsiCo Russia General Manager Paul Kiesler.
As part of its procurement localization strategy the company aims to purchase 100% of required feedstocks from local farmers, according to Kiesler.
The funds will be used to provide loans to farmers growing potatoes and raising livestock, supply producers with high quality seeds and harvesting equipment, and build facilities for livestock farms and vegetable storage.

PepsiCo announced an open call for young entrepreneurs and forward-thinking university students in Brazil to submit business ideas for its digital incubator program PepsiCo10.
According to a release, now in its third year, PepsiCo10 identifies promising emerging technologies that can be applied to brands to engage consumers in new ways to help drive sales. PepsiCo10 Brazil will be the first PepsiCo10 program focused on an emerging market.
