president-obama
  • I don't think I've ever seen a politician so far removed from reality! At a time when the disparity of wealth is getting worse by the second, Mr Romney says we, the people, shouldn't talk about it in public.

This guy is definitely a 1%er - mind, body & soul! The middle class is being destroyed and Mitt wants to get his plays in too!  Hell, Rick Santorum said, "there are no classes in America"!

In the interview with Matt Lauer Romney again pushes this idea that Presdident Obama is dividing America via "Occupy Wall Street".  He says the president is envious of the rich - and so are you!

If Romney is elected you can bet one of his first moves will be to give more outlandish tax breaks for the wealthy and the corporations. Why not, "corporations are people" according to Mitt.

This comes on the heels of Romney saying, "I like to be able to fire people" - while referring to health insurance providers. Well that makes sense if you're a CEO because you can fire the provider. But most Americans get their HI through their employer and they can't fire the HI provider in most cases.  If you have a family of 4 and purchase your HI through your employer but don't like the plan...it's highly unlikely you're going to fire the HI provider and find it cheaper and better somewhere else! That is simply not reality!

Following the "I like to be able to fire people" moment, the Romney handlers decided he no longer will give a talk without....hang on....The Teleprompter!  GTFOH!

They've been bashin this president for 3 years over the teleprompter and now Mitt can;t give a speach without the teleprompter on orders from his campaign?

That rant he gave after "winning" in New Hampshire....you betcha...TELEPROMPTER!

But there was no teleprompter when he was interviewed by Matt Lauer...and BOOM, he does it again - inserts foot in mouth!  The 99% are envious of the 1%...

Mitt Romney has no idea what poor or middle income people are going through...he's never been there done that!

  • Pat Buchanan has made quite a bit of money playing racial politics and as so often happens...some people can't stop themselves form inserting both feet in their mouth!

    Should Buchanan be fired?

  • John McCain needs to be retired. He can't even remember who he's introducing. There he was in South Carolina on stage in front of the tea faithfull to introduce the great Mitt Romney and he blew it BIGTIME!

    This is truly sad...just sad...

It's time for the people of Arizona to get real and retire this man. He is simply too old. He's a relic and is clearly incapable of providing leadership. Come on Arizona...do the right thing...retire John McCain before makes a complete fool of himself...and YOU!

  • At a news conference Sunday after the APEC summit in Hawaii, Obama said college athletic programs are fun and can be important. But he said the excitement they generate shouldn't get in the way of protecting vulnerable youngsters. And he says the lesson is that when people see something wrong, they have to "step up."

  • This article is in response to a news article that was seeded today by MSNBC regarding a town that drafted a resolution to impreach Presdient Bush.  Yes, I said Presdent Bush who is no longer in office.  Apparently, the MSNBC/NBC/Universal/GE/Comcast conglomerate couldn't be bothered with having its writers report on something recent and felt compelled to dig up a story from 2006.

I'm sure there will be those of you who say that this is the liberal media taking the heat off President Obama by any means necessary and that might be true.  However, I think this incident speaks to the mainstream media's total disdain and disrespect for our intellect and attention span.  I hope that EVERYONE who contributes to Newsvine will take this opportunity to speak up and let MSNBC know that posting old news is unacceptable.

Are you willing to speak out and send a message that you are not going to be manipulated, distracted or deceived by the mainstream media's tactics?

  • As the political theater continues in this country, I continually see people buying into their own destruction by believing in empty promises and going along with the detrimental actions being taken by the US government.

The latest in this trend is President Obama's so-called "Jobs Bill" that has yet to illustrate ACTIVE job creation strategies and/or plans other than the usual temporary public works jobs.  As stated by Obama himself, here are the key provisions of this proposed legislation:

The program includes the repackaging of some previous Obama proposals and the extension of other initiatives, including temporary payroll tax cuts that were enacted last year. But he also called for several significant new steps, such as enlarging that tax cut to provide $1,500 in savings for the average family and offering another tax cut for businesses that hire new employees.

“The purpose of the American Jobs Act is simple: to put more people back to work and more money in the pockets of those who are working,” Obama said. “It will provide a jolt to an economy that has stalled and give companies confidence that if they invest and hire, there will be customers for their products and services. You should pass this jobs plan right away.”

The current payroll tax cuts from last year have NOT had the impact that the administration hoped they would.  Unemployment remains steady at 9.1% (a VERY conservative estimate that does not include longtime unemployed people) and extending these tax cuts will probably not positively impact the situation.  The reduction in Social Security taxes being taken out of employee paychecks will give working citizens a little more money at their immediate disposal but it will also decrease their benefits once they retire and collect benefits.  The problem is that keeping the tax cut doesn't create jobs where they didn't exist before.

More importantly, the response to this bill by ACTUAL job creators seems to be lukewarm at best.  Here's how the U.S. Chamber of Commerce responded:

The president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Thomas J. Donohue, said Obama is right to call for "swift passage of pending free trade agreements," but that while the president discussed several important issues his ideas fell short. "A workable jobs plan must genuinely reduce regulatory uncertainty, unshackle promising American industries, and not be overly reliant on government spending and subsidies," Donohue said. "Now that many proposals have been put on the table, the time for talking has passed and the time for action is now. Our nation urgently needs an economic growth agenda that accelerates and fires up the powerful job-creating engine of American enterprise. The president and Congress must act faster, be bolder, and put their faith in free enterprise, not in bigger government," he said.  Source:  Business Journal Daily

Can something be done to increase the effectiveness of this possible approach?

Obama may back a national version of a Georgia program that encourages businesses to provide on-the-job training for people receiving unemployment benefits. About a third of the time, the workers wind up getting hired full-time. Offering tax incentives to businesses to hire the unemployed. Under consideration is an expanded version of a law passed last year that encouraged companies to hire the unemployed. The law exempted employers from paying their share of the Social Security tax when they created jobs for those unemployed for at least two months.  But economists say the law didn't boost hiring much.

Rajeev Dhawan, director of Georgia State University's economic forecasting center, says the tax break might encourage employers to hire workers they didn't need, which would be inefficient. Or, he says, it could give them a tax break for something they were going to do anyway. Source: Paul Wiseman, Associated Press Economics Writer, September 7, 2011

So, the question becomes "What is needed to encourage US businesses to hire American workers other than enacting tax cuts?"  Giving out tax cuts and extending unemployment insurance are NOT proactive job creation strategies.  Surveying our country's manufacturing and service needs to determine our employment shortcomings so money can be invested in developing those areas would be where I would start.  America has a tremendous wealth of untapped talent and a lot more support for entrepreneurship MUST be on the table.  The days of staying at one company with job security over the course of your career are gone. The push to maximize corporate profits are keeping wages stagnant and are enticing companies to send jobs overseas for cheaper labor prices.

The US workforce has to evolve to navigate a rapidly changing job market that is unfriendly to the job seeker in terms of pay and workload.  Our President and Congress have yet to engage in forward thinking about this matter and things will NEVER change unless we ALL do!

  • Mr. Gergen calls it as it is.

  • Well the end of the summer is the beginning of a new season of political prognostication. Are we ready for all the over simplified repeats of the last election, tea or coffee is now being served and it will be stale. So let's get down to it and look at things with a sense of real political relevence.

Obama will be the Democratic candidate, no big surprise there huh. Right now the summer poll numbers are weak for the President, another non-surprise. Some folks are looking at these early numbers and dancing on a grave that has not even been dug yet. Hey, what ever floats your boat for the moment. For me it is just not relevent yet to play the numbers game. I'll wait till the numbers in July and August of 2012 before I start thinking about the polls.

Some folks are looking at the past mid-terms to prognosticate the future. I think that is also wishful thinking and nothing more. The mid-terms are different than a Presidential election for many reasons. Mid-terms get the tried and true voters out while the part-time voters see no reason to go and vote. Mid-terms usually see slight, moderate or major changes in the House more than the Senate. 2010 mid-terms saw a change in the House but really not much has been accomplished but tactical moves have been made. The battle lines have been drawn for the 2012 election. The tried and true voters are ready for the most part, the part-timers will be the ones who sway the vote one way or another and those battle lines are fluctuating right now.

This fall we will see changes in the poll numbers but until we know who the GOP candidate is, those numbers will still be a weak indicator. Also, many voters will watch what happens in the House and Senate to see if the tea people will play the same game. This could play into the president's hand if they continue down the same road. The indepedents, fence sitters and first time voters may not like the continued 'no compromise' game and just get sick of it all. The main party voters will most likely hold their noses and vote party first, but that could change also.

Right now the GOP contenders are playing fast and loose with promises to see who will gain traction with the limited base voters of the GOP. This could blow up in their faces if they also don't try for more moderate Republicans while they court the base of Evangelicals and the one issue voters. The president is also loking to shore up his base of voters and we will have to watch to see how that goes too.

The big issue will be the economy and any changes in the economy will be a big deciding factor for many voters. Usually after the summer the economy picks up for many reasons. We will have to watch that in order to get an idea on how the election may end up.

This will also be a make or break election for the tea people. They now have to prove they are a real party with real voter strength. In fact, I think if their numbers in this election are tepid they will not be relevent in any other elections after this one I think. One election does not make a political party.

I also think that a large number of voters are waiting to see who will be the candidate for the GOP, after that is made known the voters who like or dislke that GOP nominee will jump to one side ot the other. The 'lesser of two evils' premise may be the big issue for many voters. I think the only good candidate to upset the election is Mitt Romney. I know, I know, a flip flopper bu that is not the way a large number of voters may see him when the time comes to push the touch screens. The other candidates are playing with the assumption that in order to beat Obama they have to go further towards the right to create a big difference between them and him. That may not be the best tactical move and it could create the idea that it is better to dance with the devil we have than create a new and unknown and more extreme devil. The idea that you don't switch horses in the middle of the stream worked for GWB and it could also work in Obama's favor this next election.

The GOP primaries will be the one thing to watch along with the economy.

Well, these are my thoughts about the 2012 election for now. That could all change by the New Year.

Let me hear you relevent and sober predictions for now, the rest of you Nostradmaus that already know the future can just keep staring at your belly button for lint. Be creative and make a belly button lint sculpture or something, that would be better than trying to serve us all stale bromides of tea and coffee. We have heard all of those by now.

  • President Obama recently appointed Monsanto Vice President Michael Taylor as senior advisor to the FDA commissioner.

Obama also is also considering Dennis Wolff, former Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture, who unilaterally declared that labeling products rbGH-free was illegal, and that all such labels must be removed from shelves statewide. This would, of course, eliminate the label from all national brands, as they couldn’t afford to create separate packaging for just one state.

  • The backstory: On July 5, the Associated Press published adetailed story about a single CIA analyst who was crucial in bringing down bin Laden. Because of "fear of retribution," the writer called the analyst only by his middle name, John, and omitted other identifying details. John Young, who writes the intelligence blog Cryptome, figured out what he looked like by comparing photos of the unnamed analyst's yellow tie visible in the famous Situation Room photo from the day of Osama's capture. Young had an image — which the Observer posted — but was unable to figure out the name of the guy. And then, oh so casually, the Observer reporter just happened "to mention the Cryptome story while out with some friends. An acquaintance volunteered that he recognized the man in the photo and proceeded to put a name to the face." (We do not believe that was a coincidental conversation, but moving on.)

  • I had not paid much attention about the debt ceiling until the story broke that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) had to remove himself from debt ceiling negotiation talks due to his short bet against the U.S. dollar.  I first heard about this on Free Speech TV's "The Thom Hartmann Show" over a week ago and since that time, very few people are comprehending the gravity of this situation.  A CONGRESSMAN IS BETTING AGAINST HIS OWN COUNTRY'S CURRENCY AND ECONOMY!!!  Representative Cantor's bet is tantamount to treason and you can best believe that he is the NOT the only congress member betting against America.

Just a few weeks ago, Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) was forced by his own party to resign over him sending pictures of his penis to an online acquaintance.  Though he made the fatal mistake of lying about the incident to every news outlet that put a microphone in front of him, the offense had NOTHING to do with his job performance nor did the incident take place during work hours as far as we know.  Yet, this story proliferated every news broadcast for 3 weeks.  Now, we have this bombshell about a congressman in a key leadership position who has broken his sworn oath of office and is actively betting against U.S. currency but NO ONE is calling for Eric Cantor's resignation or indictment!  How could this be?    Well,  the debt ceiling talks is the  latest act in the kabuki theater of American politics and we citizens continue on as a helpless, clueless audience seemingly paralyzed to say or do anything about the unfolding drama happening before our very eyes.

Perhaps a lot of us don't understand the whole concept of our national debt and debt ceiling talks, so let me make it plain for you. The U.S. total debt is currently over $54 trillion and the interest on that debt is well over $3 trillion (source:  U.S. National Debt Clock website).  Currently, the U.S. has a $14.294 trillion credit limit which was raised from the previous $12.394 trillion credit limit back in February 2010 (source:  Treasury Direct website).  Our country is $100 billion away from reaching the new credit limit and we only have a little over $3 trillion in tax and state revenue coming in which will only cover our interest payment.  The gross domestic product or total market value of final goods and services produced in our country which serves as our collateral for obtaining loans is currently at $14.7 trillion.  Looking at this from a personal finance perspective, our country is a horrible credit risk (even though Moody's Investors Service gives the US a AAA credit rating just like they gave all the toxic assets that led to the 2008 financial crisis) and would be extremely hard-pressed to get a loan.  However, congress and the president have the exclusive privilege of raising the country's credit limit infinitely despite our inability to pay off the ever-increasing debt.  Once the new credit limit is agreed upon, our government goes about the business of selling treasury bonds (debt) to individuals, corporations and other countries such as China, Japan, and Russia.  Our country also sells large amounts of its debt to other countries that export oil (Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Gabon, Libya, and Nigeria) and serve as banking centers (Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Netherlands Antilles, Panama and the British Virgin Islands).  The countries that are designated in bold happen to be places that are in conflict either with the U.S. or internally.  Who in their right mind borrows money from their alleged enemies?

Why is it that Republicans are giving President Obama such a hard time  about raising the debt ceiling when it could mean that America defaults on its loans?  I am only calling out the republican party because other than Representative Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Democrats have done little to fire up bi-partisan working class support for increasing taxes on the wealthy.  Most economists and many business leaders believe that an inability to raise the debt ceiling would have damaging and potentially catastrophic economic consequences.  Certainly, an already vulnerable American public would suffer, with increased interest rates, delays in payment for military personnel and the elderly, as well as a suspension of a variety of other vital services.  Since our nation is currently occupying/fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Libya, there also is a serious risk to our nation's troops overseas and to our strategic international interests. The evidence is strong that our nation would suffer immediate and irreparable harm if the debt ceiling is not raised.  President Obama could issue an emergency executive order to suspend the debt limit since the criteria has been met to do so but what does this mean for our country's escalating debt?  It means that we will continue to wallow in this debt until the countries we owe money call it in and herein lies the farce all of this foolishness.

The world operates on a fiat currency system meaning that the top currencies such as the U.S. dollar, European euro, the Japanese yuan and British pound have no intrinsic value, i.e. they are not based on any physical commodity, but their worth depends on people's faith in them. If people lose faith in a fiat currency, it will stop holding any value and will become no more precious than the paper it was printed on.  Seeing as the House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has a bet against the dollar, it would appear that one of the very people who is paid and entrusted with "bearing true faith and allegiance" to his country, has forsaken it.  The deafening silence about this traitorous act leads me believe that the rest of congress is in on the same bet.  Sadly enough, average citizens are the ones who have to shoulder the overwhelming burden of endless debt.  Yet, when it comes time to print up our "funny money"  or borrow it from other countries, that same congress always votes to give the majority of it to banks, corporations and wealthy individuals via bailouts, tax breaks and subsidies aka corporate welfare.  President Obama has proposed $4 trillion in deficit spending cuts (nobody seems to give a damn about the $54+ trillion principal) that come from social safety programs such as Social Security and Medicare.  The diabolical formula is to gradually raise the full eligibility age to 70 for workers born in 1973 and thereafter, that would cut Social Security outlays by 12 percent by 2050, which would equate to massive savings in dollar terms.  But, as the Congressional Budget Office has noted, an increase in the eligibility age is, in effect, a cut in the benefits which people are expecting to get.  “Forcing people with lower-than-average life expectancies to delay claiming benefits would reduce their lifetime benefits.” CBO said in a report last March. “For example, someone who died at 68 would collect benefits for four years rather than six. And because people with lower earnings tend to have shorter life expectancies, they would be more likely to be harmed by the change.” Source:  Reducing the Deficit:  Spending and Revenue Options - CBO March 2011

It would seem that the people who are supposed to be working toward our best interests would rather see us die than to force their obscenely rich friends to pay up on a little income tax.  Instead, they keep citizens at each others' throats with nonsense such as democrat vs. republican, left vs. right, conservative vs. liberal, gay vs. straight, red state vs. blue state, etc.   Meanwhile, the entities who have bought our leadership lock, stock and barrel, laugh at how ignorant, apathetic and self-defeating the only people who can put an end to the suffering, oppression, poverty and war that they inflict upon us.  Though President Obama has backtracked on many things he said on the campaign trail, one thing is true -- he can't do this alone.  Everybody needs to get involved in how this country is being run.  Step #1 - Get educated on what's ACTUALLY happening and how the world has been working without the input of everyday people like you and I.   The executive, legislative and judicial branches of our government are being paid by corporations and banks to screw over the very people who pay their base salary and benefits.

Our government has already legalized torture, wiretapping, occupation of sovereign nations, bribery and discrimination via the Patriot Act, foreign policy and the Citizens United decision.  How long is it going to take us to do something about any of the myriad problems we face before we find ourselves unable to do so?  Time is ticking very fast.  I hope that Republicans are not "playing chicken" with our economy and that the debt ceiling will be raised before we go into default.   But until then, Security Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, Congressional Ethics Committee, get your damn hands out of the cookie jar and start investigating, indicting and sentencing U.S. elected officials who are betting against America!!!!

  • When President Obama spoke after the play, "Sister Act" he did mention that some supporters undoubtedly have complaints as all of their 'issues' were not resolved. His trademark cool evident even when some in the audience yelled out they weren't upset, I was struck by the president's persistence in being honest:

"Maybe you weren't, but even I have been frustrated."

As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day."

So anyone who thought 30 years of Republican opposition would suddenly disappear because of the election of President Barack Obama is unrealistic. Living in 'Fantasy Island' somewhere. Change takes time, and impatience is certainly present in our technological world. Yet patience and determination we must have, so as not to allow America to transform into a modern day fascist state.

Our president is still hitting the right notes, as most of the B-list candidates are not qualified to challenge him. Newt. Michelle B.  Mitch, and the gang. Not presidential material. More sideshows/reactionaries who lack basic knowledge of American History, and can't rewrite it. None are his intellectual equals.

Especially when you refer to the president as if he were born in Kenya, somewhere.  So far, I wouldn't trade him for anyone yelling out there who wants to run. That's a shame in itself --the Republican party reduced to little more than a group of crappy, complainers with no plan, no solution, only to not tax the rich!

And let's not get started on the Supreme Court members, especially my favorite, Clarence Thomas. He could never hold a candle to Thurgood Marshall, and Thomas' selection in the first place was an insult. He, and the other Bush/Regan appointees still pledge allegiance to the Koch Brothers, and not the flag.

This is not the American way. We may not have known then, but we know now, --we need President Obama to continue to straighten out the mess Bush left behind.

We need to do this one more time, and do it right for the future of our nation.

  • Listening to all the complaints about our current president had me wondering how it was for other presidents during periods of great upheaval and change. The over-reaching rhetoric of many has us all shouting and getting upset with people who cross a line in order to feel a sense of superiority or to just take a wild swing at a leader they do not respect. Some think this period is worse than ever. With the constant jibber-jabber of the media we seem to have more nonsense than information to read and hear every minute.

I just finished reading Manhunt-The 12 day chase for Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson and some interesting tidbits of information popped out as I read the book.

John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators were going to kidnap Lincoln at first. Of course this did not happen. Soon after this, General Lee surrendered. Booth was angry and very upset and gave up thinking about this crime. When Lincoln soon suggested giving the freed slaves the vote, Booth was incensed and came up with his assassination plans when he heard that Lincoln and Grant would be attending Ford's Theater that Good Friday. We all know what happened next. But do you know what was being said after the murder?

For some this became a moral issue, Lincoln went to the theater on a religious holiday, Good Friday. At that time, the theater was considered a den of vice, a place good and moral people did not go to, a place where the rabble met. When it was reported that Lincoln's head was held by the actress Laura Keene, some people felt this was unholy. The Civil War Journalist, George Alfred Townsend wrote"The Chief Magistrate of thirty million people---- beloved, honored, revered, lay in the pent up closet of a play-house, dabbling with his sacred blood the robes of an actress".

On Easter Sunday, many ministers even admonished the now dead Lincoln from the pulpit for attending the theater on Good Friday. These great moralizers saw a religious connection with the assassination. Lincoln did not spend this day, Good Friday, at home or at church, instead he went out to the theater and this was the reason he was assassinated. The Easter Sunday lesson was that his lack of morality got him killed.

Booth saw his act as a great moral act, killing the President was a righteous deed that met with God's approval because God let Booth succeed. Even Booth's sister wrote about this with a religious connection "It was the moan of the religious people, the one throb of anguish to hero-worshippers, that the president had not gone first to a place of worship or have remained at home on this jubilant occasion. It desecrated his idea to have his end come in a devil's den, a theater.....that fatal visit to the theatre had no pity in it; it was jubilation over fields of unburied dead, over miles of desecrated homes". Don't forget that the Booth family was a family of actors and theater people.

For many of us this seems over board and outragious. How can a death, an assassination of an American leader be played up like this, a dark moral lesson for the nation that his lack of morality had struck the president down.

I also remember the problems John F. Kennedy had when he was running, the idea that the first Catholic man to be in the White House would have us under the thumb of the Pope and Rome was the fear of many non-Catholic Americans. Many Americans voted against him for that one reason. The moralists were out in force again, mixing religion and politics with fear and anger.

We again see these overbearing moralizers playing the same tune. The self appointed rightious have once again reared their ugly heads and use their twisted morality to down grade an American leader. They question President Obama's faith, they berate his dead family members, question his birth records and even question the fact that we killed an evil terrorist, an enemy of our country who used his religious moralizing to kill many innocent people.

It is a very fine line between morality and immorality. Have you crossed that line? Do you support the words and actions of people like this because you dislike our current President?

be wary of people who you think are allies in your cause. Their cause may not be what you want to support in the end. These types of people would use their so called morals to destroy us for their own devices. it looks to me like they are again playing us against each other in the name of morality. What is so moral about that?

  • With the latest social group unrest and political apoplexy from the new birth certificate exposure going on, we political medicants wish to provide an important service to the community at large and so we have decided to discuss the issue and provide some comfort, quiet introspection and maybe a little alleviation of this political 'after-math'.

Those who wish to participate will only have to say they wish to be a member and it will be their entrance into a new and exciting group of people.

    A member of what?

Why a member of FFARTT or The Facility For Afterbirth Reaction Trauma Team of course.

As a member you will be asked to try and make the afterbirther a little less upset with their defeat, help them clean the egg off of their faces and to help them join back into the fray of regular political arguments again.

We must remember that the afterbirther is still flying high on endorphins and other internal chemical imbalances. This internal HIGH cannot be shut down immediately, that would be like asking a heroin junkie to quit cold turkey. They must be brought down slowly and with mildness. Afterbirth Reaction Syndrome Excitment, or ARSE,  can be a very violent experience for the afterbirther and for FFARTT members so always be prepared for any emergency when talking an afterbirther down.

First, always have a piece of candy or two on you if you are talking face to face with an afterbirther. A little sugar stimulus is good when they are crashing from the truth. Also, ask them if they have been taking their medication everyday. If not, this is a good sign to run away quickly because they may tend to get ARSE at the drop of their asshat.

FFARTT members are asked to smile (no smirks), talk in a calm voice and to run as fast as they can when needed. Do not attempt to talk with afterbirthers at a bar, a saloon, a resturant that serves alcohol or in their church. Alcohol, afterbirthism and religion are the third rails of danger for members of FFARTT.

On the internet, FFARTT members will be asked to see the difference between afterbirthers and "Afties', or Afterbirther Fellow Travelers. Afties are like minded but play a cool game of pretending they have nothing in common with afterbirthers. If any FFARTT members finds themselves talking to an Aftie, let it go because why play with a slippery eel that specks out of both sides of its brain. Since they are fooling you and themselves you are defeated before you start. Give it up on Afties, they are the ones who helped and provided assistance to afterbirthers in the first place. In fact, afterbirthers are their protective shield so they do not fall on their own petard, they let the afterbirthers do it and then their mess is cleaned up with no fingers to point at them when the next election cycle comes into play. Afties are the brains of the organization. Let them stew in their own swill by disengaging from them quickly. They need more time to energize their base with other fears so don't waste their important time and yours.

After ascertaining an afterbirther from an Aftie, the internet medicants of FFARTT will have links, stories and other evidence that they should share with afterbirthers. When afterbirthers come back with WND evidence, don't just laugh riotously. Take each point of their evidence and use it to prove the opposite. Make them understand that you are not making fun of them (no matter how hard you really want to) and write in a calm, cool and collected voice. Remember, they are in an overly excited frame of mind already, don't poke the bear and expect a different reaction.

If after much time and interaction, the afterbirther has not come down then the only possible solution for any FFARTT member is to pull out the humor ammunition. If you can't bring them down nicely and gently then all you got left is humor. They won't like it but, what the hell, you need something back after all your hard work and efforts trying to help them with their sanity.

Remember FFARTT is the gass of Truth, justice and the American way. Use you FFARTT gas with respect and a little gusto to boot.

    FFARTT fairly, often and fragrantly.

  • Well I walk down the street in the pouring rain

walked past the birthers and heard them complain

"the Manchurain Candidate lives and we know his name"

this is the gist of their great big claim,

"He is a liberal plant and a socialist drain,

collecting our dimes and dollar bills,

he is just a commie schill,

That's why we need a 'birther' bill",

My Homage to Orley and her fellow ding a lings.......... It's birther time again because we must divert attention from the Republican party.

  • More highly paid for "HATE SPEECH" from Conservative Right Wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh who call the President of the United States a "cockroach". More Right Wing HATE TALK, DOES IT NEVER END. The Religious Right and the Conservative Right love to take the gloves off and sucker punch their opponents with the most odious comments.

This is the same comments that dictators used to violently remove those that they designated as "cockroaches". When will Rush's sponsors stop support this racist, hate mongering Hillybilly?

  • When President Obama delivered his State of the Union last week, a new poll showed Americans are feeling better about the state of that union than they have in almost four years.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows 43 percent of those surveyed say things are going well in the U.S. - that's up 14 points in just a month.

A majority - 56 percent - still say things are going badly. But that number is down sharply from 71 percent last month.

  • Like all newspapers, yesterday's Palm Beach Post was filled with reports of the civil unrest in Egypt. Two well-known and respected journalists offered their commentary on the situation and a member of the readership, Rabbi Richard Yellin, added his voice by sending a letter to the editor. Of these three contributors, Rabbi Yellin's words were most interesting so I will save him for last.

Jackson Diehl, a columnist for The Washington Post, wrote an article entitled, "Can U.S. get on the right side?"

Mr. Diehl referenced Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's 2009 visit to Egypt, during which she was asked whether the Egyptian government's human rights violations -- documented by the State Department -- would cause the White House to consider rescinding an invitation proffered to Hosni Mubarak. Bear in mind that President Mubarak had not been to the United States in five years due to his "disagreements" with the Bush Administration over his repressive policies.

Mrs. Clinton's response was: "It is not in anyway connected. I really consider President and Mrs. Mubarak to be friends of my family, so I hope to see him often here in Egypt and in the United States."

Mr. Diehl expands upon Mrs. Clinton's comments by stating: "Thus began what may be remembered as one of the most shortsighted and wrongheaded policies the United States ever has pursued in the Middle East." His reasoning is that the Obama Administration erred in assuming that President Bush's stand on the need to liberalize policy in Egypt had harmed international relations and that President Obama's advisors underestimated the growing civilian opposition to current policy, which was spreading like wildfire. Additionally, when, in November 2010, Mr. Mubarak "fixed" a parliamentary election to guarantee his hold on the presidency, the White House voiced no opposition.

So shortsighted were the "people in the know," that just hours before chaos erupted in Cairo last week, Mrs. Clinton said Mr. Mubarak's policies were vested in the "legitimate needs and interests of the people" and claimed the Egyptian government was "stable." She is now being forced to eat her words made all the more bitter by her public embarrassment.

Those in opposition to President Mubarak's leadership are demanding that the United States support the demands of the people. They are insistent that a transitional government replaces him and his followers while a new constitution is written. President Mubarak has countered that, should secular forces rise to positions of power, Islamic extremists will gain control.

That was yesterday. Today, President Mubarak has agreed not to run for re-election. The "wait and see" has begun.

A differing opinion was offered by Ross Douthat, a columnist for The New York Times. His commentary was entitled "The devil we know."

Mr. Douthat questions whether the policy of suppression adhered to by President Mubarak's regime might actually be responsible for the growth of Islamic radicalism. He suggests the possibility that, as Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood was pushed out of the country, they were absorbed into a more widespread and dangerous international movement. To that possibility he adds America's financial support of Egyptian leaders despite human rights violations and the understandable transference of the people's hate for Mubarek's regime to the United States.

The question he asks is whether the push for democracy will open the door for America's enemies to gain more power. His commentary gives credence to two well-known idioms: "politics makes strange bedfellows" and "damned if you do/damned if you don't." Without a crystal ball, no one really knows what is going to happen, but one thing history has taught us is sometimes "The devil we know" looks a lot less menacing than the one we haven't met yet.

Again, the "wait and see" has begun – but waiting, in and of itself, is fraught with danger.

Now we have Richard Yellin, the former rabbi of Temple Emeth in Delray Beach. Rabbi Yellin presently lives in Israel, where he feels threatened by the potential for anarchy in the streets of Cairo. He asks the question: "Are democratic rights more important than lives?"

We all think we understand the meaning of democracy, but Rabbi Yellin questions how the word democracy has been put into practice in certain regions of the world. He fears that a democratic election in Egypt could result in Hamas or Hezbollah ascending into power. Should that happen, the thirty-year peace between Israel and Egypt could/would be quickly shattered and Israel will move from asylum state to death trap. On the other hand, if Hosni Mubarak were to remain in power, Yellin believes there is a good chance peace between the two countries will reign.

Rabbi Yellin thinks, and rightly so, that the world beyond the Middle East does not understand the Arab mindset and fears that our ignorance will allow extremists to erode humanity until we are nothing more than dust in the desert. He expressed that belief quite succinctly in his letter when he wrote: "If human life is less important than human rights, then democracy, too, becomes a subtle tool in terrorist plots."

So, how do we answer Richard Yellin's original question: "Are democratic rights more important than lives?"

Would that there was an easy answer, but here, too, we must wait and see.

  • Wasn't 2010 fun, kids? The old people remembered to vote and the kids...didn't. Much like in 1995, the kids willl learn why you should vote every other year instead of every four years.

Continue reading this entryContinue reading this entry ...

  • OK, let's talk about dissent and dissageement. I am a Proud party member, been that way since I first got my voting registration form and filled it out. Did I join because the party and all its members thought the same way on every single issue? Did I look for the purity test to see if I belonged? did I pray to the ideology gods of the party? HELL no people, I joined because the principles of the party met many of mine when I was younger. Not all of them but most of them.

I wrote a piece yesterday on the tax deal and some of the things I see that has not helped the party or the president get the messages out clearly and with clarity. For the most part it was a good debate and discussion, two trolls showed up, but hey when don't they show up. They are probably right now reading headlines and making comments about the headlines.( they seem to get bored real fast with the reading thing).

Now I voted in the mid-terms, always voted since I claimed my right to vote. I do not know who sat out and didn't vote, I suspect it was a lot of new and younger voters who did not get their immediate political gratification. Oh well, they still have a lot to learn, give them that excuse and let's move on.

But I did see one thing that distrubed me just a little. Some of my fellow members didn't like the idea that I and other Dems had an opposing opinion and metioned it with a little cattyness in their comments. Now I have a very thick skin when it comes to this issue of dissent. I grew this elephantine skin of mine with years of dissent in my back pockets. I grew up out on the streets protesting war, injustice, rascism and inequality. I had things thrown at me, I was spit on and once beat on and my patriotism was called into question time and time again. Yeah it hurt at times but I got over it because I knew in my head and in my heart that I was on the side of right and truth.

If we Democrats cannot disagee on some things then I think we are in trouble.

We watch as the GOP has created purity of ideology tests, using Reagan's 11 commandment and we see the Right Wing grinding any dissent out of their party. We watch Rush and Glenn brow beat any questioning moderate or conservative, any party members who does not tow the current party line is given an immediate media inquisition and held up as an unfaithful party member. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if some where down the line those conservative dissenters are erased from party history as the commies did during the Stalinist era.

Ideology and priciples are just a base to work from. We don't need ideological purity in the party. We want and need individuals who will stand up and dissent when they want to dissent. Disagreement is not bad, it is the start of discussion and debate.

The Democratic Party has changed since its inception. We members did that with debate, discussion and dissent when needed. A pary of individuals may seem divided to the other side. Hell they love to make jokes about how we are our worst enemies. let them laugh and point that out time and time again. They just don't get it. They think dissent is just bitching at the waiter for bringing them cold soup.

Our party is made up of individuals, center right, moderates, left of center, progressives, left wing and even some socialists. Let's not be afraid of pointing that out. let's not try to create another party where each of us votes and thinks like a robot.

Now I understand the nature of the political move the president HAD to make. That is not my problem with him and the leaders of the party at the moment. My problem is that the messages are weak and not given enough power to over come the nasty playground that the GOP and their tea cohorts have created.

It is time to get nasty and get dirty people. You don't win a mud fight while keeping your clothes and your principles clean and tidy all the time.

You want to drown out the Tea Party, then get out in the street again, mass protests, letter writing campaigns to the newpapers. Every damn chance you get lampoon their obnoxious ways, point out the lies and half truths. Make their heros into the demons against democracy. Do this with knowledge, intelligence and facts.

Don't make me the bad guy, I am just another Democrat that has an opinion and I am going to use it till they bury me. Now that is what I call purity, the purity of the individual voter who is a member of The Democratic Party.

Go out there and scream bloody murder for our values, our truths and our principles, that is the American way. That is the way of a party free from purity tests and ideological suppression.

let's get ready for 2012 NOW!

  • President Obama was not my first, second or third choice to be president but he ended up the choice of many in my party. What choice did I have then, McCain/Palin was just too hard to even wrap my head around to consider. I decided to reserve all judgement until I watched him in action. Well, I have watched long enough and I have come to the conclusion that he does not have what it takes to be President at this moment in time.

Politics is a game, it is so convoluted a game that experience and knowledge of the game is one of the most important things when playing the game. It is not chess, it is the Japanese game of GO. Anyone who has heard of GO or played it would know what I mean.

There are many points to play on the board, each move adds more to the game and it gets very congested and more convoluted as the game goes on. You have to keep your brain sharp and your eyes all over the board.

His first mistake was thinking he had the political cache to get health care passed very early in his presidency. While it was a bold and decisive move, it was his Waterloo moment. It was the major reason the mid terms went against him in my opinion.

His second bad move was letting Nancy Pelosi look like she spoke for all the party and the White House, he let her become the voice instead of him being the voice. Bad move and a wrong political choice. Perhaps he thought she would make a good poltical shield, perhaps he thought she would do some good by taking the heat off of the White House. Who knows, but he let her become the public face of the party and it did not help one bit.

His third bad move was letting the birther nonsense go on and not stepping up and speaking to the whole country about it at once. He could have used the bully pulpit in a way that got the messages out all at once instead of piece meal. While he used legal procedures to tamp down the idiocy, he did not take up the challenge quick enough or loud enough to drown out the manipulation of the stories. A fire side chat with all of us seemed in order and he dropped the ball on that time and time again.

His fourth bad move was that he did not speak loud enough why he was continuing the bail outs of banks and corporations. He lost the message that it started before he took office and many short memoried Americans and political manipulators won that battle very quickly. It became his bail out not the preceding administrations bail out. Another example how he lost the attention of us all.

He also relied too much on other people in the White House to carry the water too many times. That looked like he was delegating his strength and the White House power to lesser folks. Sorry, but I didn't vote for White House Spokesperson, I voted for a leader who does step up to every challenge with a strong and clear voice. delegating the messages is not a smart political move.

Also, we have a VP, he can do a lot more work in the public eye than he has been doing. It seems like he is hidden away for other reasons. Yeah, Joe can say some hare-brained things but that would have taken some heat off the President. The VP position is a political tool, use it or lose it.

Of course I cannot blame him for everything that went wrong. He walked into a job that gets very little respect anymore from many of us, he had an economy that was in shambles from a lack of fore sight, laziness and party politics that helped create this mess. He had two wars to deal with, he had many countries to watch and evaluate who was a real friend and who was the hidden enemy. he walked into a real mess. We cannot blame him for what was already done (of course that doesn't stop some from trying to make that true).

He is still our President so I will continue to hope that he gains more skill at the job. I want him to stop talking at the GOP and start talking to us. No, not little question and answers games with the media, no, not staying on message with the journalists and news outlets. I want this leader to step up and talk to the American public everytime he needs to get his message out. I want him to understand that a news blurb a day will not suffice

A president has a ton of stuff on their plate, each day millions of bits of information are added to the game. If the other side is adding many pieces to the game and he is just reacting he will lose time and time again. The political game is not just about defense and surviving. The game is about long term offense, taking the other side to the mat and holding on tight.

Compromise is good but continued compromise looks weak and ineffective in the long run.

Mr. President, step up your game for all of us. It is not just about the next election, it is about the lives of every American. heed my advice or lose my vote. it is as simple as that. If you lose more of us you have no pieces to use in the game. Get IT?

  • Did you catch Obama's press conference today about the compromise to settle the battle over tax cuts and unemployment? The whole thing? If not, by all means view the entire video here: Obama Press Conference Video: Dec. 7, 2010 Presidential News Conference, Speech on Tax Cuts Deal

Please share your impressions with us.

What we are doing too much of, I fear, is filtering through other sources--news reports, blogs, advocacy shows, spinning heads, etc. But do we see/hear something differently without those filters? What impressions or assessments do we form on our own? Is there a difference between the sound bites a news source decides to feed us as opposed to an entire presentation, with Q&A, we can absorb on our own? You bet!

I've been a negotiator in a microcosm, bargaining not just with a recalcitrant "other side" but with colleagues of "our side" representing constituents in all their varied opinions and agendas. Perhaps that is a failing: to be able to see the need to play flamethrower one time and mediator the other. And perhaps that is why today I didn't see the weakling, the failure that so many have branded our president to be. I saw the grownup faced with an impossible choice and doing what he felt best for a country in crisis.

This is not to say we who may disagree should just roll over and play dead. We need the activists out there pushing--always pushing--never giving up, never relinquishing their ideals, because if they stop we have no way forward, no way out of the troubles that plague us. They, WE, have a right to be angry. It seems we lose far more than win, give up far more than we get; and what we want isn't even for us in a personal sense, but for a better, more just world for everybody.

In my heart, I believe Obama feels the same. But draw your own conclusions.

[UPDATE 12/08/10: President Obama has released a short video explaining the deal and answering critics. It's available now on You Tube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhTzXqh7rvk&feature=player_embedded.]

  • As a party member I must adhere to all the principles, leaders announcement's and every damn idea that pops out of any members head, yes, no , maybe.

Democrat member here folks from generations of Democrats and Republicans, a few socialists, a number of very independent people, one commie numbers runner and a very long line of nativists. No long term jail occupants, no revolutionaries, no terrorists or pedophiles in my family, just run of the mill blue collar, white collar, para-professionals and me (an artist/farmer black sheep). Most of us are now members of the democratic party and we all argue amongst ourselves all the time.

I don't like Nancy Pelosi as speaker. She may be a good leader behind the scenes but as a public speaker and leader I think she is not very good. Reid also is one I wish was behind the scenes and out of the spot light.

Al Sharpton, I don't own Al, the party doesn't own him, he is a flim flam 'hanger on' that we just ignore for the most part. He is one step lower than a pimp to me. He is a wanna be pimp. In fact Al is smart enough to not run for national office knowing already that the party will walk away and disown him.

Jessie Jackson. I like Jessie but he has lost his verve and his voice.

Rev. Wright, he ain't my pastor, I don't own him either and I really don't care what he says or how he preaches, I don't go to his church and never will.

Joe Biden, Yeah, Joe says some funny things but he is VP and Sarah is not. His words are funny because he is VP, Sarah's words are not because she lost.

I don't own any politician who is a member of my party, they are just part of the great mix of my party. I see a diversity in this party that for no other reason gets my attention and a lot of times my vote. If the GOP wants me to look at their members then they better get past the purity tests, the lock step actions and the idea that no republican can talk trash on another republican. (there is not such thing as an 11th commandment). You can talk smack on the others in your party, Ronnie can no longer hurt you.

I am an independent democrat, able to vote on the issues which ever way I want to. I expect the independent republicans to think and do the same.

President Obama was not my first choice, nor my second, he was my third choice.

But because he is my president for the time being I will stick with him.

    "Why dog he really sucks!"

I say look at the alternative McCain/Palin with both houses run by Democrats. (think about that long and hard).

  • Tonight, it is being reported all over the south that Florida has fallen, been cut or burned off the Continental United States. Many stories are running rampant through the ether-sphere that we no longer can call ouselves the "lower 48".

One story coming from FargoAin'tjustaMovie.com, said that a large group landed on the beaches of Miami and met up wiith a group that was planted along the many mansions that span the waterways. They were pulling off frogmen suits and putting flame throwers on their backs and running willy nilly all over. Palms were devastated, little fluffy lap dogs ran and yapped at the terrorists feet which upset both the terrorists and the dog owners. Flowered shirts were aflame.

Another story from Wedon'tliketourists.org, run by Rusty 'RED' Stranglefort, said that a large group had started to cut at the Northern State Line of Florida, with a gigantic circular saw, as Rusty states in his blog "the thing was enourmous, larger than a house and these little guys got out, set it up, and then rode off on it while lighting a hookah pipe, dude".. No other stories have come in at this time to corroborate Rusty or his web site. Rustys mom pulled his plug we have learned.

President Obama has flown around the Gulf and found that Florida was floating towards Cuba, Obama said "If we don't get this moved back here it will bump into Guantanamo and the terrorists will escape, I do believe that is their ultimate goal"

Hillary Clinton's office said "we have no treaties with Cuba, perhaps we can just have the average Cubans really occupy Florida and we just reclaim it as our Floating 48th state."

Joe Biden was tied up in his office and could not be reached for commnent.

John Boener finally turned from orange to red and could not speak and stalked away.

The White House did not respond to questions about Ms. Clintons musings.

Michelle wants to vist with the kids. TYeh right wign bloggosphere and all right wing bloggers are foaming at the mouth and talkin' about bays and pigs. "Foam will not put out the fire" says Fire Marshall Jessie "match" Liginlighter of the Internet Free Fire Forces of America.

Communists in Cuba are unsure what to do, stay home, go see Castro, or party.

Cuban officials have run to Castro's side to hold him from falling and there is a very long line of American cars from the fifties and sixties lined up on every Cuban beach for miles and miles. Their lights are all on and the radios are blasting music. Castro seems unhappy.

Florida officials are waiting for Haley Barbour to tell them what to do and old folks are starting to wash up on the beach.

Millions of Americans say "so what"

Jonny Picklers of Road Apple Drive in Maple Slurp VT says of Florida, "Well it was just sticking out like a a..a (can I say dick?)... Dick, Ya know".

Kelly Wanamakeit of Pear Flat Falls VA says "I was never impressed with Florida, didn't get me excitied at all."

Jimmi 'two nose' Schiliachi said of this travesty "we can get that back for ya, for a price."

Republicans are up in arms over the lose of so many voters, James 'spankey' Wonamakeher said "who we gonna scare now."

Haley Barbour is still not anywhere to be found.

The South has been abused, unmanned and "where they heck we goin' ta go for Disney now, Calafu48%#fornia!"

  • You mean this bullcrap was all just your classic cry for attention? Is that what you're trying to tell me?!

  • The republican party and radical right are by far the most dangerous threats to America today. More so than terrorism or communism or any foreign nuclear power.

The GOP is a Trojan horse financed by the over-privileged wealthy and powerful corporate interests that own and influence everything you hear see and think each day of your life. In America and worldwide.

The GOP and the embedded far right wing are a propaganda machine built with money to influence government, American and world society and take away human freedom, equality and justice for all.

Humanity has been slowly conditioned over the last centuries to accept environmental pollution, war, disease, crime, poverty, hunger and ultimately financial slavery. The cards have been stacked against most humans.

Conventional wisdom is used by the establishment to control the minds of we the mindless. We vote - but what for?

Distracting us using anger and hate those in power must covertly oppose a free society if they wish to maintain the empire they've created with wealth - they ultimately determine which humans live or die. A child in Africa, an elderly person in Chicago - they're all the same. The health control battle was the coming out party for the over-privileged - where they openly gnashed their teeth and showed their venom. Quite frankly - it's us or them.

Money is the divining factor, especially in America - when you have it you are in control - when you don't you are financially enslaved.

Education and inherited wealth are important weapons used by those in power which stack the deck in favor of mostly white supremacists. Expensive Universities have become factories churning out the white master race. Rubber stamped corporatists assume control and embed the tentacles of capitalism in every aspect of our lives.

The politics of me, me, me is no longer disguised as in the past but now is openly embraced by the GOP. Lies are spoken in the face of truth. Falsehoods are blatantly substituted for facts. FOX news leads the way.

Racism and bigotry play an important role in maintaining a political system that separates the over-privileged from the under-privileged.

At any given moment each of us is either over-privileged or under-privileged (most of us) - the struggle for the top is perpetual.

Those at the top remain there by creating fear and distrust and hatred and those of us who seek to join the over-privileged rather then seek the truth will never scale the heights of power.

This minority of over-privileged humans control our planet and the majority of the worlds humans are under the control and influence of the rich and powerful.Governments converse with Governments - the masses in different nations have no way of communicating directly without being suppressed and filtered and censored. Technology has played a role in freeing the masses but is also now being slowly designed to control the masses. The internet will replace the role of media in the battle for control of our minds.

Laws are created by those in power that favor those in power, and contain the majority of humans who lack the resources to take control.

Tax laws, criminal laws, civil laws - all purposely complicated beyond the comprehension of the majority of humans and designed to enslave humanity.

President Obama understands what is right and what is wrong with Government and with humanity.

And the over-privileged who wish to weaken our federal Government and complete the establishment of corporate governance recognize him as a threat.

Only the masses can empower our Government under his leadership to begin to return earth to humanity.

  • Ok everybody, lets face it for 3 years now Politics have been anything but boring! It's been a downright running Soap Opera! From the2007/ 2008 Campaigns to the 2008 election of Our President. The history making 2009 swearing in and 1st year of the 1st black President,to now 2010,with "The Party of No" still repeating the same stuff it started saying back there in 2007(they need a new script writer) We now have the famous "Tea Party" complete with insane remarks and signs and downright scary ideas on how this country should be run.

Now the Tea Party is Republican, but wait they don't agree with all the Republicans, just the ones that can pass their purity test,so I guess they are now their own Party?(It's a party alright!) With mentors like Glen Beck,Sean Hannity,Good ole Rush and Fox News they go armed with all the facts, you know,"Death Panel,Birther,Obama is a socialist,(and he uses a TelePrompter too, bad, bad),ect.

Even with all this, they lacked something, but lo and behold,a "Star is Born" Sarah Palin!!! She can be their Leader, she can be their New President in 2012!! Who could complete this wonderful ticket, who could match Sarah's wonderful intellect, who could be Sarah's running mate? Why Michelle Bachmann, that's who!!!

Together they could do wonderful things for this country!

1st of all Sarah would have none of that "hopey/changey thing"(are those even real words?) Status Quo is good enough for her!! Why would you change things that are working so well for You and your friends and everybody at the top!!

She would get right to work on this messy spending thing. Forget the health care reform thing, those people that don"t have insurance are just fine, they don't like going to doctor anyway. Save alot of $$$ there!

Of course Medicare and Medicaid would have to be cut to the bone, you know how those Seniors and disabled people take advantage of it.

She could put Ms. Bachmann in charge of more entitlement programs, such as Social Security. She would wean everyone off it. Sure there would be alot of Seniors and disabled people homeless and starving, but you know she don't see the homeless now,you know out of sight, out of mind, they would go away(die)sooner or later anyways.(They should have taken responsibility and saved for their retirement, what did they do with all that money they made working at min.wage jobs anyways?) I am sure she has alot more great idea's like this too,you know like how to cut Veterans Benefits, ect.

Of Course Sarah has much more experience than the current President. You know she was Governor of ALASKA for 1/2 a term(they were picking on her,so she quit, she fixed them) that has a population of about 8,000 people,Wow!! But in that shortened term of hers she learned about Foreign Affairs from all the newspapers that were put in front of her and most importantly she could see Russia from her house!!
She also learned alot about controlling the enviorment , like controlling the Wolf population in Alaska!! She devised a policy where she could keep that under control and give some extra revenue to her people. All they had to do was go up in an helicopter and shoot them down from the air,for every dead wolf they brought back to her(did they lay them at her feet) she gave them $150.00. Unprecedented!!!

She will also have a plan to save on education,no need for higher learning, there will be no professors or lawyers,to have those may mean having more people sound like President Obama, can't have that,so no extra funding needed here.

She may also include in her administration a man who can save billions of $$ in entitlement programs for the poor. He will also help curb the numbers of poor people. Yes, I am talking about that smooth talking Republican Lt. Governor from S.C.!! You know the one that said"Poor people are like stray animals, don't feed them or they breed" That all in itself can get rid of Welfare, food stamps, school lunches, food banks, ect and cut down on the population of the poor at the same time!! Wow what a concept!! At the same time look at how much more money that leaves for Corp. Welfare!! The truly worthy!!

Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann will be a hit in Washington!! Entertaining everyone with their "Words of Wisdom"
They can spend most of their time shopping and going on book tours, because Fox News and other big Corporations will be running the country, they will just give them script to read or "hand notes" (no teleprompters here) when ever they decide the press may have the honor of asking a few prepicked questions.

Sarah even knows how to get re-elected- Just declare war on some country. That is the advice she gave to Our President, doubt if he will take it though, sigh(LOL) Oh Wait! Don't Congress have to be involved in Declaring War!! Oh what do I know!

Hope you are all ready for this!! Wake up people!!

  • Does anyone remember the little story of the man in a flood? He sat on a roof waiting to be rescued. He prayed to God to save him and then trustly waited. Soon a rescue boat came by,he waved on "God is going to save me" he says. Hours later another boat comes by he yells"God is going to save me" as he waves the boat on. Days later, with the water still rising, his hunger and thirst unbearable a helicopter comes by,throws down a ladder to save him. He yells at them to go on telling them "God is going to save me" He waits and waits, getting more miserable and scared by the minute that maybe God is not going to save him after all. He lifts his eyes to the sky and asks God,"Father why have you not rescued me from this flood,I never wavered from my faith that you would, why have you not?" A Bright Light filled the sky and a huge voice boomed through the clouds, "You dummy I sent you 2 rescue boats and a helicopter what more did you want?"

This seems to be what the American people are doing right now,the same as the man in the story, they keep asking for help, when it is trying to get sent their way, they let their Republican and some Democrat senators wave it on. I just don't get it!

As far as I can see President Obama is doing everything he can think of within his powers to send us help, but all a lot of people are doing is listening to Fox News entertainers like Glenn Beck, Right Wing(we don't want to do anything to make Obama look good)Republicans and Tea Party People who all act like they are all going to personally by themselves have to pay for all this!!

While our Republican Congress and Senate continue to act like Kindergartners, real people are suffering, losing more jobs, losing their homes, their cars so that they can not even look for work or if they still have a car, can't afford the gas to put in it.

I wonder how many of these so called servants of the people have gone into grocery stores wondering how they can buy enough food for the month with less than $100.per month. Or do they go into a store and would love a candy bar but they don't dare spend the 89 cents, because they will have to put that toward buying a quart of milk.

Come down here Senators and Congressmen and live in the real world, do your job, work with the President and your Congress and Senate and lets get something done, this is down right stupid. Use some common sense. If you think you are making the President look bad, I hate to tell you,he is the only one in the room that looks like an Adult.

Fellow Americans, wake up!!! This isn't a game or soap opera or reality show. This is Real Life. See the Real Reality. People are suffering and the country is going down the drain thanks to all pettiness and obstruction by the Republicans, the lies that are spewing out of so called Right Wing News people and the Tea Party.

I for one have had enough and will take the 1st rescue boat that comes by!

  • Don't let them fool you. Rush L.Imbaugh,Glenn Beck,Sean Hannity do not dislike our President or the Democrats, just the opposite.

To them President Obama has meant job securitiy, higher pay, fame(?) higher ratings for them and Fox. They get to organize Events and Tea Parties and all kind of fun stuff like that. They also get to travel to these Events and Tea Parties, they even get to broadcast from these fun things (makes them feel like real reporters) And just have a really good time!!

They know without The President, the Speaker of the House and the Democrates in the house and senate they would not have a show. Rush's whole radio show, every minute I have heard is spent on Bashing them and making up whatever he can or putting his spin on an out of context sound bite or talking point, Beck is just as bad and Hannity does not lag too far behind.

If no new issues, remarks or anything they can think of does not come up for new material,no worry, they will harp on the same thing for weeks on end. Or for added spice they may go back to an old issue (like death panels, birther, whatever). They always have material. They need not worry, their loyal followers(like sheep?) never get tired of listening to them or the same old thing.

So the next time you hear some of their ridiculas statements and wonder why they hate the President so much, take heart, they don't,they know he is best thing that ever happoned to them!!

I bet they even voted for him!!! Will probably vote for him in 2012!!

  • There are a lot of people today with ideas about "mighta, shoulda, coulda or woulda" things we may have done after 9-11…only if we would've had a different President other than Bush.

  • We all wish we could do certain things to ease the quality of our life, to avenge a certain painful situation, or to make things better for someone else. But if you were given the power to be invisible, what would you do with that day? How would you spend it? Would you be a hero or just use it to fulfil some long lost wish?

The possibilities are endless here so tell all! :o)

  • Talks are underway right now for the federal govt to change the way that healthcare operates in the United States. The change could be big or it could be not so big. President Obama's view is the bigger, the better. However, a number of members of Congress that are allies of the insurance industry would prefer to see as little change as possible. Many that want bigger changes have argued that healthcare reform would be meaningless if the option for a public health insurance plan operated at-cost by the government is not part of it. Should any healthcare reform passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama contain the option for a public health insurance plan that would compete with private companies that offer health insurance?

  • It is pretty sad but it's true that some people might look at everything Obama does and go: that's great, I really like that my President did that. But as they look at him, they cannot help but feel anger or hatred, just because they are unable to see him as a person and let go of their racism.

As we take a good look at the world we live in, we can see many different groups of people. Whether they are racial groups or others, there are the differences that will always bother this or that person.

When President Obama was elected, the world looked at the United States of America and saw hope for the future; people from all corners of the world who have at least once in their lives suffered racial discrimination started to believe again. They believed in freedom and they started to regain faith in humanity.

They celebrated President Obama's victory as if it had been their own!

And for some whose family members that once were denied the right to even eat at a public restaurant, or were denied the freedom to live their live as a human being, could once again bring themselves to believe that humans can all live together in harmony without fearing for their lives just because they have a different color of skin.

Maybe the meaning of Obama's election to some of the other nations was greater than any American citizen can imagine. But little they know about what really goes on in this country. They may just have no idea of how far we really are from being a nation that accepts everyone without restrictions.

It seems to me that America just loves to be the first: The first to fly to and step on the moon, the first in flight*; the first to elect a black president…! Which could easily be completely for political purposes and to bring the USA's popularity back to the spotlight [accomplished by the way] but I certainly do not know any of this for sure.

Truth be told, as I mentioned in the beginning of this article, I think that there are people that just can't help but dislike President Barack Obama and his family for the simplest fact that they have dark skin or are African descendants. It doesn't really matter that his mother was a white woman.

The reality is they will always find something wrong to say about him; they will always have negative thinking regardless if President Obama brings this country's economy to the best it has ever been.
The world outside believes that the people of the United States of America are one step ahead of everyone when it comes to fighting discrimination. But how much truth is in that, really?

I think that this country and the rest of the world are yet to be openly accepting of the minority. We have a long, very long way to go until things can really change. They may change but it'll be a very extremely slow transition.

But whatever the purpose was, the fact is that America has elected a multiracial/Black man as the greatest nation of the wolrd's President. I guess that if the world at least follows the USA's positive steps towards this change, then the USA's contribution to this change will be the first and most important one. But this step towards change shouldn't just end there…America should keep on walking!

  • Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama's Plan to Renew America's Promise
    Forward by Barack Obama
    ISBN: 978-0307460455

This book lays out President Obama's general plan for where he wants to take the country. He covers everything from the economy, to health care, education, verteran's affairs, foreign policy, innovation, and more. This book was actually written during the campaign, and so lacks much of the detail that one would hope to get from such a book. Also, because so much has changed since this book was written, especially in the area of the economy, that many of these original plans have already become outdated. For example, at this book's writing, Obama was planning on a $50 billion stimulus, rather than the almost $800 billion stimulus package that was recently signed into law.

I decided to read it, despite the fact that it was written last year and is somewhat out of date, just to make sure I had not missed anything during the campaign (I hadn't). If you are already familiar with Obama's proposals from the campaign and read through his website, there is no point in reading this book (unless you just want to read some of his speeches that they printed the transcripts of at the end). If you did not read through the Obama campaign's website and are not familiar with Obama's general plan for America, then this book is still a worthwhile read, even if it is somewhat out of date.

  • This is an awesome achievement. Bill Clinton in his State of the Union(s) often spoke of artists helping to create paradigms for the American publics' imagination for social reconstruction in a new century.

  • President Elect Obama's Victory Speech. I know it's been seeded somewhere else, but I just finished watching it, and am in the process of listening to it again. Powerful? You don't even know the half of it, ladies and gentlemen. There is no tooting of his own horn. There is no thanking people for what they did for him. He calls on memories of things from long ago, powerful men and their ideals that created this country. Then, he speaks of the future. He warns those who would tear down and destroy that which is the American dream. He calls upon us all to work together, and says to the people who did not vote for him that even though you did not vote for me, I am your president, and I am here for you, too. He talks of a woman, 106 years old, who voted for him. He talks of the things she's seen since she was born. In the beginning, she couldn't vote because of the color of her skin, and the fact that she's a woman. The events she's witnessed, Pearl Harbor, Dr. King, all the way to yesterday...when she placed her finger on that touchscreen and voted for President Elect Obama...

And then he says, "Out of many we are one, that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people, yes we can!"

I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a little boy, and I still am as I write this. I feel it has been too long since someone who understands, and wants to work for more than themselves, and their own interests has been in a position to make a change. America is more than any one individual, and if that is forgotten, then America will be forgotten.

Thank you, Mr. President, for understanding. Thank you for caring, and thank you for trying. I for one, stand ready to do what is asked of me, and though it may get tough I will remember that together, we can.
