As much as I appreciate Bloodworth taking the time to write something meaningful and thoughtful, I will never understand why did the GT staff for so long shunned us, their own community, even Brandon Jones made a post on neogaf but not here. | |

yes, I always feel it that way, the GT staff didn't care about the f?rums, I remember once Kyle made a thread about Russel Crowe and then the Bloodworth thread for most anticipated games. I was more attached to the f?rums than the staff. | |
Thanks for cross-posting before I got over here. Sorry these threads are huge and take some time to catch up. To add to it though, I really did try to keep up with the forums, maybe not as much as I should have, and maybe I didn't always make myself known, but I've been in and out and tried to keep people in the loop with whatever I actually had answers to. I was really happy that we were able to transfer onto these new boards and clean things up. There are a lot of names and avatars I recognize from over the years, and even seeing Justice pop in for one last jab gave me a chuckle. Those of you who have stuck around through all the technical nightmares are awesome. Thanks for putting up with them alongside us and supporting us through the years. | |
It wasn't a problem, nor did I fault you for posting over there first as sadly the neogaf thread about the demise of GT is about 10 times more active than the GT one. I do want to say, thank you for all your time and effort over the years, and I hope these next few weeks can go as smoothly as possible for you and everyone else involved. It would be great if you guys could magically spin off via patron/kickstarter but the logistics of that are likely quite unclear at this point and something you will have to take your time to figure out, though I am sure that many people would like to help you guys out if they can. | |

Its been sad watching GT as a whole slowly kill itself. since 2011 it always felt like one step forward, two steps back with how the community got treated. I saw many people who work at the site try there hardest to salvage it, but someone, somewhere in the coperate structure just always seemed to try to mess it up. The community was what brought people here and kept people here. Not sure where I will find a forum that has been such a fun ride as this one has been, even counting these last 3 years watching it slowly go down the drain. Kinda sad we cant decide on where to move to next. To the vast majority of the people working behind the scenes, You guys did a damn good job when everything seemed to be against you. | |
Well we had the same problem back in 2011, when factions were taken down. We couldn't all agree on one place to migrate. And that's understandable since there's not another GT. We after all stayed on this rather slow site because layout and community wise; there isn't another GT out there. Yes were now similar to The escapist, but I wouldn't blame anyone for not joining a migration. Heck seeing Square Alliance (future of kingdom hearts faction), die rather soon was a bit surprising. They probably had the best chance to make it off GT with a custom site. But it turned out to be too much for a small group that struggled with recuritment and funding to maintain. | |

I am legit going to miss GT reviews. Brandon had the best voice for reviews. I try to watch other site reviews but it's always nasally/too deep/too high/accented etc. | |
Been here since 2005, but I'm not too sad about it. This site hasn't really been great for a long time. There aren't many decent conversations on these forums anymore either. There are many options to this site. | |
Someone pm'd me about the tool a few years back, I think his was rocknGrohl and he had a pic of Dave Grohl as his avatar and he told me that he hacked this site and perma banned The Tool and the guy was messaging him basically crying that he couldn't get his account back | |

I may try to get on Neogaf sometime down the road. All its flaws considered, it has always had some epic content; especially the official game threads. Also, a big thanks to the GT staff who did as much as they could to keep this site afloat. | |
NeoGAF is the nexus of double standards. They claim their moderation is strict by the rules, but their moderators (not all of them) ban people if they don't like what they post based on their feelings. Bish, the head moderator, is a Sony fanboy who worked with Adam Boyes before and doesn't hesitate to ban anyone who speaks negative about Sony or their practises. Added to that, thoughful and in-depth discussion about sensitive subjects like racism, sexism etc. is strictly prohibited at GAF. Before you can explain your views you'll be banned with a label 'sexist', 'racist' or whatever. Oh boy, and then there is this king of douches, the owner of NeoGAF, Tyler Malka, who has a God complex and is openly sexist. That guy once sexually harassed a woman in a bar in Spain and was bragging about it. When users would point out that his actions were wrong, he would ban them. No exceptions. He also once pressured a NeoGAF user to go out with him, on that same Spain trip of his. When she wouldn't meet up, he would act like a dick. She called him out on his action on the forum and he banned her and anyone who defended her. NeoGAF would be nice if you were to live in the world of Equilibrium: emotionless. The owners is a sexist hypocrite, the moderators have not-so-hidden agendas and are biased (not all though). What is a forum if you can't speak your mind? Fuck NeoGAF. | |
