CD & Bond Commissions

CD & Bond Trading Hours
Scottrade will accept and process orders between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
CD Trading
Investment Minimum CDs trade in denominations from $1,000 up to $100,000. The minimum investment amount at Scottrade is $5,000.
Corporate/Agency Bonds
You must have an Internet account with Scottrade before you can place a corporate bond order on the Internet.
Municipal Bonds
To buy municipal bonds from your Scottrade account, cash representing the purchase amount must be in the account before an order can be accepted.
U.S. Treasury Bond Trading
To place a U.S. Treasury Bond order, log into your account and click the Trade tab at the top of the page.
U.S. Treasury STRIPS Trading
To buy U.S. Treasury securities from your Scottrade account, click on the Trade tab at the top of the page. Next, click on CDs & Bonds on the left side menu.
Preferred Securities Trading
To place a Preferred Security order, click the Trade tab and choose CDs & Bonds.

Sell Bonds
Use the Bid Wanted Submission System to sell your bonds online, or call your local branch to sell bonds through a Scottrade broker.
