Your Scottrade Mobile App Questions Answered

The subject line in our email to clients said it best, “The Scottrade Mobile App Has Arrived.” Since the launch (you can read the launch blog here), we have received extremely helpful feedback from our clients through our branch offices, email, phone, social media and the app stores. I want to let you know that we are taking this feedback into account as we work on upcoming releases.

First, we want to thank you for making the Scottrade Mobile app #1 on the iPhone® Finance Top Free Apps and for helping us crack the top-10 Top Free Finance apps in the Finance section on the Android™ Market. We have heard that some of your favorite things about the app are the streaming quotes, charts and research.

Below are a few of the areas that bubbled to the top and where we stand on each.

Charting
Candlestick charting is available. In fact, we have seven chart styles, 10 upper indicators, 38 lower indicators and SmartText®. In addition, we have eight charts with multiple time intervals per time range. Our education team put together this short charting video that provides more helpful information.

Login
You can save your account number when logging into the Scottrade Mobile app (simply check the Remember Account No. box on the account login screen). To increase the security of your account, we do not offer the ability to save both your account number and password together.

Refresh vs. Streaming Quotes
The app includes two options for quotes, streaming and static. Streaming quotes is activated by default and can be turned off to improve battery life. Should you turn off streaming quotes, you can use the refresh button to access current quote data. Also the refresh button is useful to update non-streaming content, such as news and commentary. Page Turning
Because of your feedback, we will be removing the page turn animation in our next release.

Native App
The Scottrade Mobile app is a native app. We created three apps – one each for iPhone®, Android™, and BlackBerry®. Although each app was created separately, you will experience the same robust functionality on each operating system, and we will continue to simultaneously update each native app.

Login Shortcut
When using the Scottrade Mobile app not logged in, you can quickly click on any of the icons and log in directly to that section. This is helpful if you want to access a specific feature of the app that is only available post login.

Upcoming Releases
There are other features and functionality that we plan to tackle in upcoming releases. Here are just a few of the items we are working on for subsequent releases:
•Retina display
•Native iPad app
•Landscape view
•Mutual funds research and trading
•Account funding and linking
•Increased number of symbols per page on watch lists and positions

Hi Sunny,

Thank you for posting your question on our blog. In order to transfer funds between your Scottrade Bank, Scottrade brokerage or external accounts with your iPhone, you will want to use our mobile site, m.scottrade.com. The account transfer funding functionality is something that we are considering for a future version of our iPhone app.

In the iPhone app there is no function to fund the account (unless I am missing something). How can I transfer money from bank account to Scottrade account using iPhone? Please advice. Thanks

This app is useless for multiple account holders. Do you have any idea how cumbersome it is to remember and enter account numbers, and have to log out/log back in to switch accounts? Join the rest of the world and allow us to combine accounts under a USERNAME for login. This complaint applies to both the main website, as well as the app, but especially the app.
Most if not all of your competitors have figured out how to do this.

Hi Bob,

We released an upgraded version of the Scottrade Mobile app for
iPhone that will resolve any issues you may have been experiencing in
iOS 5. It's available in the Apple App Store from your iPhone or you can
visit the desktop version from your PC.

Scottrade Mobile still does not work on iphone4. Once you put in account # and password the screen just refreshes with a blank account number and password space.
I have a Galaxy Tablet and it works on it (Android).
Why won't it work on Apple iphone4?

Hi Tyler, After updating to iOS 5, some clients have had issues with the
Scottrade Mobile app and we are working to correct
them. If you are experiencing issues, m.scottrade.com allows you to
access mobile stock trading features and your personal account
information, positions and watch lists. If you have any additional

I cannot log onto my scottrade mobile app. The screen resets it self each time I attempt to log on. I know the login and password are correct because the Internet login works fine. I tried reinstalling the app but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Eager to see primary account linking as used on the main website so
those of us that trade multiple accts don't have to log onto each
separately.
