Reporting & Resolving
If you believe that you have been a victim of fraud:
- Contact the company being misrepresented, using a trusted telephone number, email address, or web site. If you believe that Scottrade has been misrepresented please call 1-800-619-SAVE or email us at phishing@scottrade.com.
- Once you have verified that the email or web site is fraudulent, contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They are the nation’s consumer protection agency. File a complaint at www.ftc.gov. You should also forward any fraudulent email to the FTC at spam@uce.gov, so that it can be made available to law enforcement agents.
- Take action to close any accounts that have been opened or used fraudulently.
- Alert a credit bureau about the fraud. A fraud alert tells creditors to contact you before they open any new accounts or change your existing accounts. You can call any of the three major credit bureaus listed below. As soon as one credit bureau confirms the fraud alert, the others will be notified to also place fraud alerts.
