Safe Web Surfing
McAfee SiteAdvisor offers a proactive solution that warns you before you interact with a dangerous web site. McAfee's SiteAdvisor tests and rates, on an ongoing basis, nearly every trafficked site on the Internet for a wide variety of Web safety issues including spyware, adware, exploits, excessive pop-ups, spam, and phishing scams.
Please take a moment to review the tips below for increased web surfing protection.
- Follow the warnings from McAfee SiteAdvisor.
- Carefully review the web site address in your browser window to make sure it is the legitimate site you intend to reach. Misspelled web site addresses may lead to phishing sites.
- Carefully read the terms of any agreement before you download software or accept a service online.
- Download software from trusted sources only.
- Keep your internet web browser up to date to ensure it uses the latest security technology.
- Clear your browser's cache (temporary internet files) regularly. Instructions for clearing your cache are available on the Login Help Page.
- If you use a cable modem or DSL connection for internet access, you can limit your security risk by turning off the cable or DSL modem when you do not require access to the internet.
