yes thats when I used to buy nothing but nintendo consoles, but I didn't like the wii so I didn't get it, and I don't like the wii u either so I didn't get that too, but if this "nx" looks like it will support everything like elder scrolls and mass effect and all the other great multiplatform games that never come to nintendo consoles anymore then it might be the first nintendo console I'll start buying again

I think his point is, hardware isn't going to magically bring 3rd party support to nintendo, look at the Gamecube for example, it was as powerful as the xbox and more powerful than the PS2 yet the PS2 received the most love that gen, it has more to do with install base than hardware, but if you think back nintendo has always been about 1st party games, I have always bought nintendo systems for the nintendo franchises (Zelda, Metroid, etc) all the other stuff came over when I got a PS2, PS3 and now currently PC, nintendo doesn't need 3rd party, although it doesn't hurt to have a couple of 3rd party games.

Sony is more than just Playstation. Playstation itself isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Especially not considering Sony is gonna dominate this gen.

If this is actually a console yes, thats not been confermed yet.

If it is a new system of some kind then hopefully this time they actually use some of the billions they made off the Wii fad. The last interesting console they made was N64, and even that was pretty flawed storage/controller-wise.

The Wii U is massively disappointing so no thanks.

Whatever it is I'm not being an early adopter this time around.

The last two home consoles and the 3ds have been massive dissapointments for me. Any hint of a gimmick, or stupid control system them I'm out. Also not touching it if they try to use wiimotes again, seriously let them go they aren't a good idea.

I'm not really surprised. Usually after a console is launched companies are already looking towards the next one. Even Microsoft and Sony are already designing blueprints for their next generation consoles. Seeing as we won't get any info on "NX" until next year shows we won't be getting it until 2017/2018 which is the end of Wii U's life cycle. I'm more interested with Nintendo's mobile plan. I wonder if this will be more of a strict push to the Japanese market. Is the western audience going to play these games as well? What benefits will consumers have for using these services? Will you be able to unlock new game contents on the main console platform while playing these mobile games similar to amiibos? I'm also interested to see if Nintendo Quality of Life will be involved as well.

I can't say about the ps4, but on the xbox one you can do backups of your games to a hard drive and play them offline, with no connectivity whatsoever.

Plus with day one patches that plague out games nowadays, you will never have the same control over the games you own like we did before. Disc or no disc. You might even chose not to download a patch but it will also mean some part of your game is not working properly. It sucks, but its how it is.

The majority of the games work fine without the patches.

More or less, i don't know who actively refuses patches to tell how the games perform without them. But normal patches that improve framerate or game breaking glitches are common. Either way games are not shipped in as complete of a state as they once did.

Tell that to my son who got a wiiu game for his birthday, excitedly put it in then had to wait over half an hour for a patch to download before he could play it.

I got him smash bros this year and I'm going to have to load it up before his birthday just to check the same shit doesn't happen this year.

It used to be true for Nintendo, but ever since they shipped Super Paper Mario with the game ending bug, they seem to be getting worse and worse.
