- What does this acquisition mean to me?
It means you get the best of both worlds. Omniture will be incorporating some of the unique functionality from ClientStep and Instant Survey into its SiteCatalyst offering. Existing ClientStep customers are encouraged to migrate to Omniture SiteCatalyst. We will support all customers through this process, and our aims are to:
- Enable existing customers to maintain or grow the current business value and ROI they get from their ClientStep Web analytics, through using SiteCatalyst.
- Minimize the amount of individual page tag changes you need to make – for most customers, this just means deploying a new version of the javascript file.
- Maintain access to and use of Instant Survey.
- Provide complimentary support and training for customers as they migrate to SiteCatalyst , through December 2007.
- Allow customers to exploit the additional applications that Omniture provides, such as SearchCenter, Discover, and Genesis.
- Will I need to invest time in learning new functionality?
Yes. However, SiteCatalyst is significantly easier to use and includes extensive online training at no extra cost. Also, for customers who migrate to SiteCatalyst this year, we will be providing you with complimentary face-to-face training.
- When will these changes happen?
We are currently in the process of migrating customers to SiteCatalyst, and we will be migrating more over each month for the balance of this year. The precise date for you can be discussed with your Account Manager, who will contact you soon to discuss the migration in more detail.
- Are there additional fees associated with migrating to SiteCatalyst?
No. The cost remains the same as previously for equivalent functionality.
- Will support and the people we know from Instadia still be around?
Yes. Most of the Instadia team remains in place – they will be the people who help you migrate to SiteCatalyst, provide training, support and account management. They have been fully trained on the Omniture product suite including Omniture SiteCatalyst and SearchCenter.
The acquisition will not affect your Instadia ClientStep support services. Omniture is offering you the same high level of service and support you are accustomed to from the same crew of people in our Copenhagen office. Nothing has changed except that we’re now all a part of the Omniture team.
This means that you will continue to have your customer support available every Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm (CET), Copenhagen-Stockholm. Customer support is always ready to support and guide you. If you have questions related to Omniture products before migrating to the Omniture platform, please address these to the Account Manager in your local Omniture office.
- Will we need to change in our tracking code?
For most customers, all that is required is the deployment of a new version of the javascript file. This javascript file has been specially designed for ClientStep customers in order to minimize the amount of page tag changes you need to make. The new javascript file will send the data to SiteCatalyst, rather than ClientStep. We will provide the javascript file, documentation and guidance on how to deploy it.
Some customers may also want to exploit some of the additional reporting capabilities of SiteCatalyst, and in some cases this may involve small changes to the tracking code for specific pages. Where this is the case, we can provide guidance on what should be changed and where.
- How many resources do we need to allocate internally in our organization to get through with the migration process?
This depends very much on your own organization and Web site. However, we have designed the javascript file especially to minimize the amount of time you need to spend making page tag changes. Your Account Manager will review in more detail what the process involves for you.
- What will happen to all my reports?
You will keep access to old ClientStep data and reports for some time after deploying the new script. Once you have migrated to using SiteCatalyst, you can use the SiteCatalyst interface to generate reports. We think you will be pleased with the capabilities you get as a result.
- How is Omniture different from the ClientStep solution
The differences are small compared to the similarities. Both SiteCatalyst and ClientStep are based on page tagging, that is, adding some code to each page that is to be measured such that data on the usage of the page is sent to the Web analytics application. Customers then log into an application over the Internet, and run reports and analysis on their data.
The user interfaces are different: the SiteCatalyst reporting interface allows users to generate sophisticated reports very easily. Also, SiteCatalyst includes a number of additional powerful features, such as Genesis which allows users to integrate their Web analytics data easily with data from other sources and see the results in their reports.
InstantSurvey is an Instadia feature that currently has no equivalent in SiteCatalyst. Omniture is currently incorporating this functionality into SiteCatalyst for a the future release, but in the meantime, customers who use InstantSurvey will still be able to use it even after migrating to SiteCatalyst.
