NHK Utilizing SiteCatalyst to Provide Insight on Viewer Interaction with and Drive Development of Newly Launched ‘NHK on Demand’ Video Service
OREM, Utah — December 11, 2008 — Omniture, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMTR), a leading provider of online business optimization software, today announced that NHK, Japan’s sole public broadcaster, has selected OmnitureSiteCatalyst for its new Internet-based television program delivery service, dubbed NHK on Demand. With SiteCatalyst, NHK will gain valuable consumer insight, such as how videos are viewed, to help establish and grow this new business.
Because of amendments to Japanese broadcasting laws made in December 2007, and in effect since April of this year, NHK is now allowed to deliver video content via the Internet. NHK on Demand seeks to provide consumers with additional choices concerning how they interact with media in an environment that has dramatically changed with video sharing sites and widely available, high-capacity digital recording devices.
With the advanced video measurement capabilities of SiteCatalyst, NHK will analyze how videos are being viewed. By doing so, NHK can gain insight into not only which programs consumers desire, but also which contribute to revenue, helping NHK to implement more targeted and effective campaigns to help optimize planning and marketing initiatives.
“The advanced video measurement functionality of Omniture SiteCatalyst was a critical element of the selection process,” said Marcus Otsuji, Japan Country Manager for Omniture. “We believe this customer win further strengthens our leadership position in Web Analytics in Japan.”
