INSPECTIONS AND CUSTOMS: ADVICE FOR TRAVELLING IN COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS AND WITH PEACE OF MIND

TGV Lyria is an international train; its travellers are therefore subject to verification of their identity by Customs when crossing the France/Switzerland border. On board, inspectors ensure you are carrying your travel tickets and any discount cards, where applicable.

Inspection of your tickets on the train or verification of your identity documents by Customs: TGV Lyria crosses borders, and so do you. Proofs of discount, passport, identity card, visa (if required)… will be requested.

Ticket INSPECTION

Tickets are verified by inspectors during the journey.

You must be able to present valid documents for the fare you have selected at all times:

  • Identity card or passport for these tickets: Senior, Jeune, Normal enfant and Baby Pass.
  • Fréquence SNCF card for the Abonnement France season ticket.
  • Fréquence SNCF and Abonnement Général CFF or Abonnement demi-tarif CFF card for the Abonnement France + Suisse ticket.
  • Abonnement Général CFF card, Swiss Pass, Inter Rail Switzerland Pass, Eurail Selectpass for the pass partiel 3 ticket.
  • Presentation of outward and return tickets for Loisir fares.

If you are travelling in a wheelchair or are blind, you must also present one of the following:

  • Person with reduced mobility card
  • Medical certificate
  • Invalidity card stating "blindness" or green star

Police and CUSTOMS INSPECTION

Customs and police inspection operations take place at the border crossing between France and Switzerland.

You must present a valid identity card or passport (valid or expired no longer than five years ago).

For travellers who are not French, Swiss or Schengen area nationals, other formalities may be required.
