Under minimal or no direction, perform software configuration changes, hardware installations, repairs, and regular maintenance at Omniture's world class data centers. Omniture has multiple data centers in the San Jose area, as well as facilities located in Dallas, TX, and Orem, UT. This position is based in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

• Installation of server, network, and power equipment.
• Troubleshoots hardware problems and replaces failed components.
• Works with vendors to schedule RMA's and on-site repair, as needed.
• Provides prompt resolution to problems as they arise and makes recommendations about procedures and processes used in the data center to further streamline problem resolution and reduce downtime.
• Enhances technical knowledge and develops proficiency on current product lines through independent and/or formal instruction.
• Maintains knowledge of current standards and procedures regarding Omniture supported platforms.
• Monitors environmental data about co-location environment and takes necessary action to maintain appropriate temperature and humidity levels.
• Documents all repair actions and submits reports/summaries according to schedule. Ensures proper care of tools and other related and assigned equipment.
• Coordinate Shipping and Receiving Activities of Data Center Equipment.
• Provides internal hardware and software support under the direction of the system administrators as necessary.

This position will report to the Network Operations Capacity Manager and be part of a team of field installation and repair engineers.

• Expertise in hardware troubleshooting and problem diagnosis
• Skills in pulling and terminating copper and fiber network cabling
• Experience in Layer 2-7 network and/or security applications
• Intermediate Linux operation and administration experience
• Must be able to lift at least 50-70 lbs on a regular basis
• Ability to travel between different data centers located in San Jose. Some travel to data centers outside San Jose area (up to 25% travel). Some infrequent international travel may also be necessary.
• A.S. in Computing/Electronics or equivalent formal technical training resulting in an in-depth knowledge of servers and networks devices; B.S. preferred.
• 4 to 6 years experience resulting in an in-depth knowledge of electronic technology and a proven proficiency to utilize this knowledge to provide independent support and repair on network servers and devices.
• Minimum 1 year field experience.
• Ability to independently perform complex diagnostics, troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and to follow corporate protocol
• Must also have the ability to document technical repair solutions and processes
• Prior experience in a fast-paced environment with a proactive attitude
• Self starter and motivator w/ ability to work alone on projects
• Excellent communication skills to work with vendors and other technicians
