Tesco's Clubcard scheme 'double points' is back until 1 December. Plus it's still possible to further play Clubcard points like a symphony, so here's the score...

Step 1: Get back lost vouchers
1. Log in online. Go to Tesco Clubcard online and enter your details. If you're new, you'll need to enter your name, address and Clubcard number to access your account.
You'll need to be registered for a Tesco.com account - Tesco says doing this won't mean you miss out on money off codes the first time you shop (see Tesco discount codes).
2. Check for unspent vouchers. Click on 'Your Vouchers' on the left hand side column and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.
3. Instantly print vouchers or use the codes online. If you want to spend vouchers online you simply need to use the code listed, eg, it begins A6TCD. To spend them in-store you can print vouchers yourself to use instantly. Spending in-store isn't the best use of them unless you're using during double up - see below for more.
Friends and family not online?
If you're telling friends and family how to reclaim lost vouchers but they don't have internet access, there is another way. Just phone Tesco customer services and it will check whether you have any vouchers to spend. If so, they will be posted to you with your next statement.
Don't forget - spend them on rewards or double up to max the value. Here are some MoneySavers who've shown it's worth the effort:
Worth up to £108,340 when converted to Clubcard vouchers
"Almost £600 worth of vouchers going back nearly three years. I knew I had a lot and this new website saved me having to dig though piles of old paperwork."
Thanks to your article, we found that we had nearly £150 of unclaimed Tesco vouchers! We have already doubled the vouchers' value online, which has been incredibly useful for Christmas.
Thanks for the tip on checking unused vouchers - just found over £50 worth not used - don't know how that happened but am happy to spend them now!

How many Tesco vouchers have you reclaimed?
Further tips & hints
Q. How far back can I reclaim vouchers?
A. The online system will only show current vouchers and vouchers last for two years from when they're issued.
Tesco says it will only re-issue valid vouchers though in the past MoneySavers have reported vouchers from further back being re-issued so it's worth a punt if yours have only recently expired.
Q. Can you use vouchers online straight away?
A. Your account details will show you the actual code needed to redeem rewards online so you'll be able to use them straight away.
Q. Can you use them for double-up?
A. You can use the online codes to take advantage of the double-up promotions that are occasionally available on the online categories. If you want to use them in-store during the double-up promotion you can also print them out from your online account.
Q. Some people are reporting not being able to see old vouchers?
A. The only problems Tesco are aware of are around joint account holders. If you have a joint account you should be able to see your own details but not your partner's.
Step 2 : Easy extra points offers
Here's a list of the current offers that get you an extra points boost.
Buy 3 different grocery items, get extra 300 pts
Buy three different items from a list of over 70 and get 300 Clubcard points, worth up to £12 when converted into Rewards.
How do I get it?
Choose three different items (ie, not three of the same thing) from this specific list at Tesco online*. You can't get the offer in-store.
The lowest spend we found to get the points was £5.17, meaning you could make up to a £6.83 profit when converted into Rewards. The items are Tesco Finest cranberry sauce (£1.43), mince pie ice cream (£1.74) and Quality Street, Mars/Maltesers advent calendars (all £2).
Anything else?
The points won't show in your basket but will appear on your February statement. Online delivery costs £3-£6 and even if an item you order from the list isn't delivered or is substituted, you'll still get the points.
The offer ends Tues 29 Nov 2011. Online orders must be delivered by then.
Step 3 : Get up to 3x or 4x value
You can convert vouchers to Tesco Rewards to boost their value. While worth 1p in store, Clubcard points values are up to tripled or quadrupled when converted to Tesco Clubcard Rewards Vouchers, which include days out, magazine subscriptions, holidays etc; eg, Alton Towers ticket for £11 of points, or a year's Company mag subscription for £8.
Yet of course the pricing is based on Tesco’s list price – so always check you’re really getting three times the value before committing – especially if you’re only doing it for the points.
So before exchanging £20 for something with a £60 RRP, check the price elsewhere in case it's cheaper and you're better off using the Clubcard voucher for something else. Here's a rundown of our top 10 rewards.
The ten top deals
Urgent! Train tickets - RedSpottedHanky. Exchange before 1 Dec
Currently, trade in Clubcard vouchers for rail travel with ticket shop RedSpottedHanky* and you get 3x their in-store value, so £10 becomes £30. But from 1 Dec this drops to 2x (£20).
If you want to spend you Tesco vouchers on RedSpottedHanky, ensure you get in before the deadline.
Once exchanged, the e-vouchers are meant to be valid for six months. However, RedSpottedHanky’s is currently issuing all vouchers with expiry dates of 31 December 2020, due to a system glitch.
Its press office says any vouchers exchanged before 1 December 2011 will now be valid until 2020. If you exchange after that, they will only be valid for six months.
Rewards Brochure: RedSpottedHanky
Estimated Value
(3x voucher value)
In our check, prices were usually identical to other train ticket sites, so this is a cracking saving. This is our top pick as the three times value really does stack up.
Reason for top pick? If you use the train this is as good as cash at triple value.
Jewellery - Goldsmiths
Every £10 Clubcard voucher gets you a £40 Goldsmith voucher, so an £800 ring costs £200 in Tesco vouchers. However from 1 Jan you will only get three times the value.
There is currently no minimum spend with these vouchers, though Tesco has warned this may change, so if you're saving up for something be careful and only convert when you have the full amount you need.
Rewards Brochure: Goldsmiths
Estimated Value:
(4x voucher value)
Goldsmiths is reasonably priced and competitive for branded items so depending on the item can be 4x face value of Clubcard vouchers in many cases. However you may find items cheaper elsewhere so do a price comparison (see the Megashopbot) before converting.
When we checked a high end Omega men's watch, it was priced the same at many retailers. However a cheaper ladies' Accurist watch was around £10 cheaper elsewhere. For branded items, you may find them cheaper elsewhere, but it's still a worthwhile conversion if you're spending at Goldsmiths anyway.
Reason for top pick? If you want something specifically from Goldsmiths, this is practically a cash discount. Particularly for those looking for engagement rings, this can seriously boost spending power.
Avios (formerly Airmiles & BA miles)
Every £2.50 Clubcard voucher gets you 600 Avios Miles – the primary benefit here is to use Tesco vouchers to boost your existing miles stash, not about using it to build one.
BA miles merged with Airmiles, the new scheme is called Avios. Read the MSE News Story for more details.
Estimated Value:
Avios 3x voucher value
To buy 1,000 Avios miles direct costs £15, so 600 would cost £9. Yet 600 cost just £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers, so you get more than three times the face value. Of course, whether they’re actually worth this is another thing. But if you need a top up to get a flight, Tesco vouchers are a good way to do that.
Important! Wait to exchange Clubcard points for Avios miles
Unless you need the extra miles to book sooner, wait to convert Tesco points. From 26 January to 31 March, 250 Clubcard points will be worth 1,000 Avios miles rather than the usual 600 Avios.
BA Executive Club Miles 3x voucher value
Confusingly, you can also buy up to 600 British Airways Executive Club Avios miles for £2.50. Avios says its scheme will be better for irregular travellers and the BA club will be best for frequent travellers, offering benefits such as free airport lounge access. However, you can pool miles from the Avios & BA schemes, so if you change your mind later, it doesn't matter.
Plus for a massive boon, the BA Amex credit card (see Airline Credit Cards) gives a free like-for-like companion ticket if you spend over £20,000/year therefore buy points in conjunction with that and it's worth up to 8x. Again though there is the question of whether they’re actually worth the price paid – even so, using Tesco points to buy them if you’re a collector anyway is a good deal.
Reason for top pick? It's an easy way to boost Avios Miles. The return could be up to three times the face value.
Day trip to France, Eurotunnel
£10 in Clubcard vouchers gets £30 in Eurotunnel Rewards vouchers.
Rewards Brochure: Eurotunnel
Estimated value:
(x3 voucher value)
Eurotunnel ticket prices generally start from £22 each way and are pretty standard. So unless you can grab one of its rare £22 return specials this is a good deal.
However if you're not fussy about how you get to France, it's also worth considering ferry deals which can be even cheaper.
Reason for top pick? This stacks up well in the value stakes unless you can track down a deal (see Cheap France Day Trips).
Days out, Cadbury World and more
Offers vary but you get £20 Rewards or a ticket to the venue for between £2 and £11 in Clubcard vouchers.
Rewards Brochure: Days Out
Estimated value:
(x4 if no deals available)
This depends on the venue and if any other 2for1 offers are available. If there are no offers available at the time you want to go, the Rewards are worth around four times value.
For major theme parks 2for1s are often available, so it's best to use Rewards for something else. See the Days Out and Theme Parks deals.
Reason for top pick? A good way to keep the cost of family days out down but do check for other offers before converting.
Restaurant vouchers incl Prezzo
Every £10 gives £40 in vouchers for restaurants including Spaghetti House, Cafe Rouge, Prezzo and Pizza Express.
Rewards Brochure: Restaurant Deals
Estimated value:
(x4 voucher value if no deals)
Many of the listed restaurants offer 2for1s (see Restaurant Deals) so if you can grab one, save your Clubcard vouchers for something else as they are only worth twice the value in reality. However, if you can't get a 2for1, Tesco rewards are four times the value, so are worth the swap.
Reason for top pick? Like days out, a good swap to boost a family meal out, but only if no other deals for that restaurant are available.
Magazine subscriptions, Elle, Gardener's World
Around every £15 gets you an annual magazine subscription to a variety of magazines including Elle and Gardener's World.
Rewards Brochure: Magazine Subscriptions
Estimated value.
(x2 voucher value)
Normally these cost around £30 depending on the magazine, doubling the face value of the Clubcard rewards. However, it's sometimes possible to up the gain and get a free gift special offer. See the Magazine Subscription Offers thread.
Reason for top pick? This is popular with forumites and good if there's nothing else you want to spend your Rewards on.
Cinema Tickets - Cineworld
Every £4 in Clubcard vouchers gets you an adult cinema ticket.
Rewards Brochure: Cineworld
Estimated Value:
(x1 to x2 voucher value)
Cineworld ticket prices vary depending on where in the UK you are and what time you see a film.
The most expensive are around £10, so if that's what you pay, it's worth converting Clubcard vouchers. The cheapest tickets cost £6 so the gain is minimal and you're better off getting another Reward. Also see Cheap Cinema deals.
Tesco Rewards can't be used in West End cinemas (where tickets cost around £12) and for 3D shows you'll have to top up the cost out of your own pocket.
Reason for top pick? If buying a ticket for around £10, this is worthwhile as it's something you spend on anyway and works out just over double the face value. MoneySavers have said they've used the ticket in conjunction with Orange Wednesdays, though, be warned, the T's and C's say Tesco Rewards can't be used with other promos.
Breakdown cover, RAC
What you get varies depending on the policy you get. For example every £36 in Clubcard vouchers gets you an RAC Roadside at Home policy which normally costs around £95.
Rewards Brochure: RAC
Estimated value.
(1.5-2.5 voucher value)
It's not worth quite three times the face value of the voucher, it ranges between two and two and a half times so can still be a good deal.
Reason for top pick? A decent discount but can be beaten by other deals (see the Cheap Breakdown guide). If you're not going to use any other Rewards this is still better than spending in-store.
Merlin pass, Alton Towers, Chessington
Every £42.50 in Clubcard vouchers gives you The Merlin Annual Pass for one person. This then allows unlimited entry to Merlin attractions (including Alton Towers, Legoland, Chessington) for 12 months.
Rewards Brochure: Merlin
Estimated Value.
(just over x3 voucher value)
The pass usually costs £140 and prices are pretty standard, so this is worth around 3.3 times the face value. However, this is only worth buying if you're going to pay for entry more than 10 times a year.
Reason for top pick? This is super popular with thrill-seeking forumites but if you're only going to make the odd visit, stick to 2for1 deals.
Step 4: Te sco x2 Christmas Exchange
Tesco has relaunched its double up promotion, so until 1 December 2011 the Christmas voucher exchange lets you swap £5 vouchers for £10 to spend in some departments (some are £10 converted to £20 in-store).
What's the deal? You can swap vouchers for double their normal store value (ie, £5 becomes £10) on certain categories, and the vouchers are valid both in store and online.
How do I do it? Either exchange your Clubcard vouchers in store, or login to your Tesco Clubcard account and swap your tokens online. While a minimum of £5 must be swapped (£10 for some categories) you can make this up with smaller denominations.
What are the categories?
Min £5:
- Clothing. Eg, mens/womenswear, swimwear, baby clothing
- Skincare, cosmetics and fragrance. Eg, perfumes, moisturisers, cleansers.
- Phones (not iPhone 4S). Eg, PAYG mobiles, some pay monthly handsets, home phones.
- Toys and bikes. Eg, Lego, bikes, scooters, games, toys.
- Opticians (in-store only). Eg, glasses over £15, contact lenses, designer sunglasses.
Min £10:
- Finest wine and Finest champagne. Eg, wine, champagne, port & sherry.
- Cook, dine and home. Eg, bedding, lighting, mirrors. crockery, pans.
- Small domestic appliances and personal electrical. Eg, kettles, toasters, microwaves.
- Furniture. Eg, beds, mattresses, cots, outdoor furniture, sofas.
For a full list of items included and excluded see the Big Exchange page.
You have until 6 December to redeem converted tokens.
How good is it? It's far better than normal in-store redemption, but still behind redeeming from the Clubcard Rewards brochure, which includes days out and gifts. There you currently get up to 4x the value.
