THE GREAT �WAP SITE� HUNT. It knows where you are!

If you�ve a mobile phone with WAP (cut down phone internet) enabled mobile phone, there are actually some very useful things you can do.

My favourite is a Orange�s �Find Nearest� service that knows where you are, shows you a mini-map and then can find the nearest taxi/pizza place/locksmith etc. to you at that moment.

As WAP is something many of us have on our phones, are often paying for and not using, I thought I�d start a hunt for other useful WAP site.

Just to reiterate:
http://railtrack.kizoom.co.uk - gives you live train info too, so you can be on a train and check ahead to see if your connection's on time. Very useful.

It might not be the prettiest WAP site, but in terms of 'Money Saving' it's pretty useful as it'll let you send repliable SMS for 3.9p/msg instead of the standard network charges of 10p or more (I think some networks now charge 30p for international SMS):

Only works on Orange as it relies on the company knowing where your nearest base station is when you request the info. I'm sure the latest adverts show Vodafone running something very similar though(or is it O2 adverts?)

I think WAP is on the whole a good invention. It's just let down by phones not being configured properly when you buy them, and also the lack of genuinely useful WAPsites (such as a petrol price comparison, or proper eBay!).

wap is the medium ie internet and gprs is the means of receiving it instead of dial up its faster

You can search for any food products you are thinking of buying and see if it is gluten free or not.

Should be useful for people who suffer from coeliac disease and their family and friends.

I've actually set up my own little WAP site. It hasn't got a lot to offer (I only set it up for a bit of fun), but you can read complete unabridged versions of two books that I've uploaded (the copyright has expired, so it ain't dodgy!)

The two books are Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and The Antichrist by Nietschze.

Okay, okay, everyone tells me you'd have to be crazy to want to read a whole book on a phone, but I found it great for on the train. You download a whole chapter (or half-chapter) at a time, so once you're reading you can disconnect (so dial-up users aren't wasting money, and you can read on the tube).

you can create a channel listing. You can then access your selected tv & radio channel listings from your phone (but not from your PC???). Just use mobile google & search for mydigiguide.
